What Surprises Did Hannah Ferrier from ‘Below Deck Med’ Encounter So Far This Season?

Only two episodes in and chief stew Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Mediterranean is encountering more surprises than ever.

The seasoned yachtie has seen it all during her career, but this season (thus far) is providing her with positive encounters, but also an unsavory surprise she didn’t see coming.

Ferrier has been the chief stew on all Below Deck Med seasons. Plus this season marked her ninth year as a chief stew. She’s generally developed a work pattern on the show of being at odds with at least one of her stewardesses. Plus, she has typically had a solid working relationship with the chef. But this season appears to be totally different as Ferrier is already reflecting on the surprises at every turn.

No one saw this coming

Last season, Ferrier and bosun João Franco had a very contentious relationship. The two often butted heads over just about everything. Additionally, Franco clashed with Ferrier’s boyfriend Conrad Empson, who was bosun at the time.

But since last season wrapped, the two have come to an understanding. They already seem to be developing a solid working relationship this season. Ferrier also relates to Franco as he struggles to come to terms that his previous relationship with stew Brooke Laughton is over.

Ferrier backed Franco to move on from the relationship. Franco tweeted, “Haha who would have thought, right?” Fans were also surprised but love this new friendship. “NEVER in 1234567788900 years, but I def dont hate it,” one person added to the thread.

Everyone is getting along

Even before the season aired, Ferrier seemed to post about really gelling with both of her stews. In the past, she was always at odds with at least one person on her team. But this year, she is loving her entire team, which is certainly a welcome change for the chief.

The teams’ bond was clear on Twitter last night. When Twitter followers called Ferrier fake, both stews backed their boss. “Fake!?!?!? Fake is your resume darling. Don’t come at the most qualified member of #belowdeckmed unless you want to have a live debate with @hannahferrier_ and myself,” stew Aesha Scott wrote. Stew Anastasia Surmava added, “Love you, ladies!!” Plus Ferrier, wrote, “Loooove my girls.”

Ferrier was also incredibly grateful for Surmava’s baking talents too. When Chef Mila Kolomeitseva’s birthday cake for the guests fell short, Surmava quickly took over. “I’m VERY lucky @nastiasurmava is a strong third stew. If not I’m pretty sure you would find me in a padded cell by charter 2,” Ferrier tweeted.

But this wasn’t a good surprise

While her bonds with Franco and her team are pleasant surprises, working with Kolomeitseva is not a good one. During the episode, she asserts that in her nine-year career she has never refused to deliver food the chef prepared to the guests.

Ferrier’s patience is certainly put to the test. She tries to keep it professional, even throwing in a diversion as she tosses the nachos Kolomeitseva made. Ferrier has found herself in a new space where she is having to guide the chef. Plus, she’s having to do it while remaining professional.

After the first charter wraps, Ferrier tries to gameplan with Kolomeitseva on the food. Surmava notes this on Twitter. “Can we get a round of applause for how patient @hannahferrier_ is being with Mila?? “
