What Time Does the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Trailer Air Tonight?
The new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere tonight, and tickets for the movie will go on sale shortly after. So exactly what time is trailer expected to drop? When should fans plan to sit around the television and refresh Fandango hoping to get tickets?
The trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere during halftime of tonight’s NFL game between the Vikings and the Bears on ESPN. The game begins at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time. Of course, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when halftime will be, as this is entirely dependent on how the game goes. But the trailer will likely end up airing around 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time, give or take 30 minutes or so.
It would be wise to get yourself to a television by 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and be ready to possibly wait until 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time for the trailer depending on when halftime begins. Once the game starts winding down and halftime starts, this is when you’ll want to keep your eyes glued to the screen, as The Last Jedi‘s trailer will be on the way momentarily. Two years ago, the full trailer for The Force Awakens also premiered during Monday Night Football, and it ended up being broadcast closer to 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time just because of how that particular game played out.
If you don’t have a cable subscription or a way to watch ESPN tonight, the trailer will be uploaded to YouTube almost instantly after it finishes airing; this is what happened when the trailer for The Force Awakens premiered during Monday Night Football in 2015. You’ll find the upload on the official Star Wars YouTube channel. If you don’t want to keep refreshing that page over and over again tonight, you can always set up a Twitter notification for yourself from @StarWars, as this account will almost certainly tweet out a link to the trailer as soon as it’s up.
Tickets are expected to go online as soon as the trailer finishes airing, so you’ll want to have your computer ready when the trailer premieres tonight. After all, if you live in a major city, tickets for the Thursday and Friday night shows will likely sell out within minutes, so even though the movie is over two months away, waiting to get tickets until closer to the premiere really isn’t an option. For that reason, you’ll want to coordinate your opening night viewing today and be ready to go with your ticket purchasing this evening.
Marketing for The Last Jedi has been relatively scarce over the past few months. Thus far, there has only been a single teaser trailer released for the film, even though it comes out in two months. But if the lead up to The Force Awakens is any indication, this first full trailer debut should mark the beginning of the advertising really getting into full swing, and we’ll have plenty more posters and TV spots released over the coming weeks leading up to The Last Jedi‘s opening on Dec. 15.
