What to Know About Jennifer Lopez’s New Show ‘Thanks a Million’

Jennifer Lopez seems to be having the time of her life. She had a starring role in 2019’s Hustlers that attracted widespread praise and awards buzz. She had the honor of performing at the Super Bowl back in February — and she’s engaged to the love of her love, former MLB star Alex Rodriguez.

But that’s really only the brink of it. Lopez also has a show coming out on the new streaming service Quibi, titled, Thanks a Million. If you’re unfamiliar, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series.

More on Jennifer Lopez’s new show ‘Thanks a Million’

According to Variety, the show will see celebrities giving $100,000 to an “unsuspecting individual” who had a positive impact on their life.

The series mainly features Lopez, who also serves on the show as an executive producer — but it will also feature guest appearances from Rodriguez, Aaron Rodgers, Kristen Bell, Tracy Morgan, and Karlie Kloss.

“Guys this is something special,” Lopez said of the show in a recent Instagram post. “I’m soo excited to announce my new show #ThanksAMillion… coming to Quibi on April 6! Stay tuned for more deets.”

The program comes two years after the end of her show Shades of Blue, which debuted in 2016. The program saw Lopez play a New York detective who gets mixed in with dirty cops while trying to make money for her family. It aired on NBC for three seasons before its cancelation in 2018.

Is Jennifer Lopez working on any other onscreen projects?

Lopez generally stays tight-lipped about things she has in the works, but it’s known that at least two other projects are on the way.

For one, she’s set to appear in the 2020 romantic comedy Marry Me alongside Owen Wilson and Sarah Silverman.

“It’s about a pop star who winds up marrying a random fan from the audience,” Lopez explained in a Feb. 7 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “She marries a math teacher in the audience. The math teacher is played by Owen Wilson.”

Additionally, she has a starring role in an upcoming film called The Godmother, which is based on the life of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco.

“I’ve been forever fascinated by the story of Griselda Blanco and jumped at the chance to play her onscreen,” the singer said in a July 2019 statement shared with Variety. “She is all the things we look for in storytelling and dynamic characters — notorious, ambitious, conniving, chilling.”

The release date for this one, however, is unclear.

When will Jennifer Lopez release new music?

Lopez told Hot 97 in 2019 that she intends on putting on new music. But she noted that there’s no clear timeline for potential music releases, as she wants to spend more of her time “producing” and “directing.”

“I do a lot of things and I have accomplished a lot of things, a lot of dreams that I have had, but I have many more,” Lopez went on. “There’s always going to be some new project that excites me.”

Her last full-length project was the 2014 album A.K.A, which received mixed reviews and was a minor success on the charts.

While you await these projects, get ready for her new show, Thanks a Million.
