What Was Beth Chapman’s Cause of Death? The Star of ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Had Been Sick For Some Time
Sad news has been reported in the reality star world. According to multiple reports, Beth Chapman passed away at a hospital in Hawaii on June 26. Given she was just 51 years old, you might have found yourself wondering what Beth Chapman’s cause of death was. And if so, let’s just say it’s a sad story.
Here’s what we know about Chapman’s health issues and her last days.
Beth Chapman had been battling cancer for years before she died
Chapman had been fighting throat and lung cancer for two years before she passed away. Doctors first diagnosed Chapman with Stage 2 throat cancer in September 2017. They removed it that November, but it returned shortly after.
She started chemotherapy, but it appears that her health took a turn for the worst in 2019 after she reportedly stopped the treatments.
Chapman was hospitalized in April for serious breathing issues. At the time, a source told US Weekly, “She hasn’t been feeling well of late and [her husband Duane “Dog” Chapman] is by her side. One thing everyone knows about Beth is that she’s a fighter.”
Unfortunately, she continued to experience health problems, and in June, doctors placed her in a medically-induced coma. Chapman’s lawyer told USA Today that she was in “serious” condition, which prompted Dog to ask for love and “prayers” on Twitter.
What has Dog said about Beth Chapman’s illness?
Dog told Us Weekly in late 2018 that he was distraught by Chapman’s cancer battle and that he had been leaning on religion heavily to get him through it.
“I pray a lot, anywhere. I cry all the time,” Dog explained to the magazine. He continued, “I constantly ask God to heal my honey and make sure He takes care of it. I’ve been telling Him that I’m going to try and quit smoking and cursing. I’m a dealmaker, and I’ll do anything.”
The reality star was also the one who announced Chapman’s death. In an emotional tweet shared in the morning of June 26, Dog wrote, “It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”
How long had Beth Chapman and Dog been together?
Chapman and Dog didn’t wed until 2006, but they’d been together for more than 30 years. They met in the 1980s when Chapman was just 19 years old, and the rest is history.
The couple became famous after Dog’s bounty hunting work caught the eye of television executives. In August 2004, Dog the Bounty Hunter made its premiere, and it lasted for eight seasons until June 2012. The couple received a spinoff Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, which followed them visiting struggling bail bond agencies around the country and helping them turn their businesses around. That series lasted for three seasons until 2015.
It’s unclear whether Dog will ever get back to television, but one has to wonder: Would it even be the same without Chapman?
RIP. And condolences to her family.
