Here’s What Little We Know About BTS’ Mysterious Upcoming Album, Titled ‘Be’

Be what? Hot off the heels of their 2020 release, Map of the Soul: 7, these K-pop idols are back with a new song and news of a new album, titled Be. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming release, which may or may not feature BTS’ chart-topping single, “Dynamite.”

BTS released their song ‘Dynamite’ ahead of their album

Life is dynamite if you’re a fan of this K-pop group. For the first time ever, BTS released a song entirely in English, titled “Dynamite.” This song features a retro, uplifting feel with a colorful music video to match, and naturally, fans of BTS shared their love for the single.

This song earned BTS its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It also broke the YouTube record for most views in 24 hours, racking in over 100 million views in less than a day. “Dynamite” also rings in a new era for these performers, marking the transition to an upcoming album.

“An album will be released,” RM said during his April 16, 2020 live stream. “An album is being released, but we’ve only just kicked off, so there haven’t been any in-depth decisions made regarding what sort of song we’ll do, what our title [track] will be like. We’ve only just started talks about it.”

When does this new album premiere?

After months of anticipation, fans finally have a release date for this upcoming album, Be. Preorders will start during September 2020 and there will be limited copies available for the album which will finally premiere on Friday, Nov. 20.

Jin’s enlistment into the Korean military has, reportedly, been postponed, so the boys could potentially tour during 2021 with this new music. “Dynamite” premiered in August because, according to the BTS members, they wanted to get uplifting music out to fans as soon as possible, in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

What can fans expect from this upcoming album, titled ‘Be’

Unfortunately, the songs on Be are still a mystery for BTS fans, including “Dynamite,” which is not a confirmed track on this album yet. However, thanks to a few interviews, fans learned that the BTS members each have a hand in writing some of the music, making it even more personal for fans.

“We’re currently working on a new album and sharing the process with our fans via live stream. Each member’s input has been significant for this particular one, so we’re kind of doing everything we’ve wanted to try. It’s slated for later this year and more details are coming soon,” BTS said, according to the Grammy Awards.

Of course, there’s been a lot of fan speculation regarding the theme of this album. Some expect this release to share some of the same themes and colors as “Dynamite,” while others expect it to be somewhat linked to Map of the Soul: Persona and Map of the Soul: 7.

Fans can see BTS perform live on their now-postponed Map of the Soul tour. Music by BTS, including their recently released single, “Dynamite,” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
