What Will ‘Riverdale’ Be Like Without Luke Perry’s Character Fred Andrews?
With the series currently in its third season, the CW drama shut down production in order for the cast and crew to mourn the loss of their very own.
With Luke Perry’s character being one of the show’s most beloved, many are wondering how Riverdale will continue on without its wholesome patriarch, Fred Andrews?
The town of Riverdale will never be the same
Though Season 3 Riverdale is still airing on The CW, the show will start to look different with the absence of the late Luke Perry.
Perry, who played Fred Andrews on the show, passed away on March 4, 2019 after suffering a massive stroke just days before.
The actor was taken to the hospital after he was found unconscious in his Sherman Oaks home in California. Luke Perry underwent observation and after a few days in the hospital, he died at the age of 52 surrounded by close family and friends.
The entertainment world has been taking Luke Perry’s death pretty hard. Riverdale has even halted production for the day to give everyone who knew him personally time to
In an emotional joint statement made by Riverdale executive producers, The CW, and Warner Bros., they touch upon the legacy Luke Perry left behind and how they will continue to keep his memory alive.
“Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness.”
The neon-filled town will no longer have its voice of reason and most self-less resident walking around trying to make Riverdale a better place for all.
Fred Andrews’ continuous kindness and earnestness won over the hearts of fans and there will be an emptiness that only he will ever be able to fill.
Luke Perry will still be in a few upcoming episodes
With Season 3 of Riverdale nearing its finale, Fred Andrews will still be seen in the remaining episodes.
Before his initial stoke, Luke Perry was shooting a few scenes in LA. Though we can assume Perry finished a majority of his scenes for Season 3, there were still some he never got to.
Because of this, writers will have to explain Fred Andrews’ sudden disappearance close to the end of the season. Many can guess Luke Perry’s character will be killed off-screen in expected Riverdale fashion.
As for the remainder of the series, it is highly unlikely Riverdale will re-cast Luke Perry’s role.
Instead, it can be expected a special episode will be dedicated to Luke Perry and the legacy he left behind that affected the cast as well as fans.
Whichever way the writers choose to have Riverdale continue on, Luke Perry will always
