What’s Next for Chris Evans After ‘Avengers: Endgame’?

Chris Evans was born on June 13, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts to a theater employee and a dentist. He showed a love of acting early and participated in both school productions and local theater shows.

Evans first real acting gig happened in 1997, but it was his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which truly propelled him into fame.

Evan’s first film in the MCU was Captain America: The First Avenger, in 2011. He has since gone on to reprise the character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013, briefly), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spiderman: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Captain Marvel (2019).

That is a long time, and a lot of films, to be playing one character, but nobody could possibly be Captain America besides Chris Evans. Except, of course, for the fact he will be retiring the role after one final film. His retirement comes alongside several of his superhero contemporaries – including Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man).

But after close to a decade as the iconic Captain America, what will the 37-year-old actor do now? What’s next for Chris Evans? Here’s what we know.

Marvel fans will get one last chance to see Chris Evans in his role as Captain America. Avengers: Endgame is set to hit theaters later this year, on April 26th. This final installment will be the conclusion of the current MCU story. Fans will remember when half of the universe’s population was wiped from existence at the end of Avengers: Infinity War – which included half of the Avengers.

The remaining Avengers must band together to once again stop Thanos, and figure out a way to undo the catastrophic things he did throughout the last movie – especially in the final few moments.

‘Knives Out’ (2019)

Although the plot of Knives Out isn’t yet known, the film has been described as a “modern murder mystery in a classic whodunit style.” The film is set to hit theaters late this year, on November 27, 2019. Chris Evans has been confirmed for the film, but his exact role hasn’t yet been revealed.

‘The Red Sea Diving Resort’

Chris Evans has been cast in the role of Ari Levinson in The Red Sea Diving Resort, which currently does not have a scheduled release date. The film is based on the true story of the rescue of Ethiopian Jewish immigrants, and their subsequent move to Israel in 1981.

Talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, will be producing this film. The only confirmed cast member so far is Chris Evans in the role of Tom Jackman. Jekyll promises to be a new view on the classic story of The Strange Case Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, first told in the 1886 book written by Robert Louis Stevenson.

According to IMDB, Jekyll will take a look at the only living descendant of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. This descendant makes a deal with the dark side, and so begins his own strange case.

Chris Evans will star as a man who begins having hallucinations in Infinite. At some point, he realizes that these are not just mere hallucinations but are actually visions from his past lives. There is no scheduled release date or full casting information available yet for Infinite.

‘Defending Jacob’

Defending Jacob is a dramatic, limited television series that will consist of eight episodes. The plot is based on William Landay’s New York Times best selling novel (2012) by the same name. The show will also include the talents of Michelle Dockery and Jaeden Martell.
