What’s Next For Margot Robbie?

Margot Robbie is a 28 year old Australia-born actress best known for her portrayal of the lovable yet psychotic Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad. Robbie has also appeared in a number of other successful films, including The World of Wall Street, Focus, The Legend of Tarzan, Mary Queen of Scots, and I, Tonya

Harley Quinn was Robbie’s true rise to fame, with Suicide Squad earning a total of $746,846,894 in the worldwide box offices – $133,682,248 of that was in it’s opening weekend alone. Harley Quinn was a Halloween costume staple for not only the year the movie was released, but also the year following. But what is she doing now, and what’s next for Margot Robbie? Here’s what we know.

‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’ – post production

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is a Quentin Tarantino film that follows a faded television actor and his stunt double as they try to rise to fame at the end of the golden age of Hollywood. Set in Los Angeles in 1969, the film will be released to theaters this summer on July 26th, 2019.

This star-studded movie will not only have Margot Robbie playing the role of Sharon Tate, but also features the talents of big stars like Luke Perry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Dakota Fanning, and Al Pacino. The casting list (director included) alone promises to make this a must-see film.

‘Dreamland’ – post production

This film is in post-production, but does not have a definitive release date yet. The film is Russian-based, and tells the story of Allison Wells. Wells, played by Margot Robbie, is a teenager who forays into the world of bounty hunting. These adventures, however, take an unexpected twist.

Untitled Roger Ailes Project – post production

Although this film does not yet have a title, it does have a schedule release date – December 20th, 2019. Robbie will play the role of Kayla Pospisil, who is one of a few women who decide to take on Fox News boss, Roger Ailes. The film will also include the talents of Connie Britton, Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron.

‘Birds of Prey’ – filming

This film has the full, interesting title of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The movie is still in filming, and has a scheduled release date of February 7th of next year (2020). Margot Robbie will, of course be reprising her role as Harley Quinn. After she splits with the joker, the psychotic cutie teams up with a group of superheroes to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.

Pre-production and “announced” titles

Margot Robbie has a very busy schedule the next few years. Besides the three films that have entered post-production and the one film she is already filming mentioned above, Robbie will also be appearing in two different films that are currently in pre-production and two that have only just been announced.

The pre-production films include Ruin (release date unknown) and Barbie (scheduled release date May 8th, 2020)Ruin will tell the story of an ex-Nazi captain who wishes to atone for his sins after World War II. Barbie will tell the story of a doll expelled from ‘Barbieland’ for not being perfect.

Announced titles include Gotham City Sirens, in which Robbie will once again reprise her role of Harley Quinn, and MarianMarian promises to be a distinct different take on the well-loved story of Robin Hood. After Robin Hood’s death, Maid Marian mourns him by waging war in the name of a noble cause. That noble cause has not yet been released, however.
