‘When Calls the Heart’: Hearties Share Their Favorite Elizabeth Moment From Season 7

When Calls the Heart fans are still reflecting on season 7 and that big hug in the final moments of the last episode. When the show’s official Instagram account asked Hearties to weigh in on their favorite Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) moment from last season, many pointed to the way she and Nathan (Kevin McGarry) embraced after she learned he was alive after an accident had her worried he might have died in the line of duty.

At the end of the When Calls the Heart Season 7 finale, mountie Nathan was taking part in a prisoner transfer when a woman with a rifle stopped him and his partner and ordered them to hand over the prisoner. Nathan tried to defuse the situation, but things turned violent. Nathan’s partner was shot and killed, but when Elizabeth first learned of the accident, it was not clear who the victim was. She feared it was Nathan, which clearly brought up memories of her husband Jack’s death in season 5. When she saw Nathan was alive, she rushed into his arms.

Some fans are convinced Elizabeth has chosen Nathan

For some Hearties, that hug was definitive proof that the widowed teacher had given her heart to another mountie.

“I have been wanting that moment all season!!” one person commented on Instagram.

For many, the embrace was their favorite moment of the entire season.

One fan said the best parts of season 7 were “any of the many moments [Elizabeth] practically BEGGED Nathan to open up to her! My fav is her running and hugging him in the last episode….I just hope it means what I want it to mean!”

Some Hearties don’t want to see Elizabeth with another mountie

While Elizabeth showed she cared deeply about Nathan in the season finale, not every viewer is convinced her feelings for him are romantic. Some are still holding out hope that saloon owner Lucas (Chris McNally), who was also vying for her affections, has won her heart. Lucas was more open than Nathan about his feelings for Elizabeth, and some feel there’s more of a spark there than with Nathan.

One viewer commented that they loved “that [Elizabeth] went into [the] big city with Lucas and saw Virginia Woolf because she wanted too! Another side of who she is besides a teacher and mother.”

Members of Team Lucas don’t want to see Elizabeth with another mountie. Some think pairing her with Nathan will simply be a pale imitation of her romance with her late husband Jack. Lucas, on the other hand, offers new possibilities.

“Nathan has always been the predictable choice, and @hallmarkchannel is pretty predictable with their storylines. I’m hoping they step outside the box this time,” a fan tweeted

Not only would an Elizabeth-Lucas romance make for a more interesting season 8, these fans argue, but the two characters simply have better chemistry, supporters say.

“Lucas is madly in love with her and believes her his soulmate,” tweeted one viewer. “Everything he does is for her.”

When Calls the Heart returns for season 8 in 2021.
