When Does ‘At Home with Amy Sedaris’ Season 2 Premiere?
If you like your crafting tips with a side of dark comedy, you need to be watching At Home with Amy Sedaris. The satirical Emmy-nominated series stars Sedaris as a would-be Martha Stewart who finds herself in a series of bizarre situations, like dealing with a creepy stranger (played by Michael Shannon) who drops in on her book group, or having to fight off a possessed doll that kills Neil Patrick Harris on Christmas Eve.
The show’s quirky blend of comic sketches and genuine cooking and crafting tips, like how to make the perfect paella or open a wine bottle if you don’t have an opener, earned positive reviews from critics when it premiered in 2017. The show quickly found a cult following with Sedaris fans. Now, it’s coming back for a second season. Here’s what we know about Season 2 of At Home with Amy Sedaris, including some of the stars who will appear.
At Home with Amy Sedaris premieres February 19
Season 2 of At Home with Amy Sedaris premieres February 19 at 10/9c on TruTV. Sedaris will be back for the show’s 10-episode run, of course, playing both herself and several other characters like abrasive neighbor Patty Hogg and the Regional Wine Lady.
Fans can also expect more recognizable guest stars. This season, Matthew Broderick, Susan Sarandon, Juliette Lewis, Ellie Kemper, Fred Armisen, Jessica Walter, and Janeane Garofalo will be among the many guests. Season 1 guests Michael Shannon and Justin Theroux will be back as well.
The show was created by Sedaris and Paul Dinello, who also co-created the cult favorite comedy Strangers with Candy.
What to expect from Season 2
Aside from the long list of special guests, Sedaris has said that viewers can expect more episodes like Season 1’s “Murdercide,” with its murder mystery theme. But there will definitely still be trips to the craft room.
“We used [that episode] as our template for season 2. There’s more story involved. It feels like every episode someone’s trying to kill me, and it’s hilarious,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s still a variety show. It’s still got the cooking and the crafting, there’s just a little bit more storyline.”
In one episode, Theroux will play a ghost who lives in Sedaris’s closet. In another, Veep’s David Pasquesi plays Tony the Knife Man. He gives an overly enthusiastic demonstration of how to carve a Thanksgiving turkey. Sedaris will also play some new characters, including Agnes Moorhead and Cindy Snipes, a Southern woman with lots of children.
Amy Sedaris’s other projects
At Home with Amy Sedaris isn’t the comedienne’s only project. She plays Janice Delongpre on the CBS comic web series No Activity and provides the voice of Princess Carolyn on BoJack Horseman. She’ll also voice a brand-new character in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King. She’ll play an elephant shrew, Variety reported.
