When Is ‘Insatiable’ Season 2 Coming to Netflix? Check Out the First Trailer

The first season of Insatiable, a dark comedy on Netflix, came out last year. It was met with quite a bit of controversy over the subject matter and the messaging. Regardless, it was renewed for a second season on the streaming service. And now, we have a trailer for Season 2. Let’s take a look at what’s to come.

‘Insatiable’ Season 1 was released in August 2018

In the series, Debby Ryan stars as Patty Bledel, a teenage girl who struggles with her weight. One day, she gets into an argument with a man who punches her, causing her jaw to be wired shut. She then loses a lot of weight and begins to attract the attention of those around her.

Enter Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts). A former beauty pageant coach (and current struggling lawyer), he decides to resume his trade by turning Patty into a winner. Both are ruthless and discover that they’ll do anything to get her that crown.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding the series

Insatiable isn’t a show for everybody. It’s very campy, and the messages are muddled. On one hand, Patty thinks that now she should be allowed to get revenge on everyone who made fun of her before she became conventionally attractive. But the show does manage to point out, if you watch long enough, that who you are on the inside matters, too.

Regardless, many were (understandably) upset that Insatiable seems to promote the idea that losing weight makes you beautiful and allows you to get away with anything (including murder). So when it was announced that there was going to be a Season 2, not everyone was pleased.

Regardless, Insatiable must have done fairly well for Netflix, because it was renewed for a second season. And now, we have the first official look at what’s to come in Season 2. It begins, naturally, with Patty, who is keeping up appearances by competing, all the while falling apart inside after her actions in the Season 1 finale.

It seems like things are only going to get crazier for Patty and Bob, who is back to being her coach after becoming her accomplice last season. Despite what has happened, they’re plugging ahead the only way they know how — by trying to forget the past and focus on the pageant.

Who all is returning for Season 2?

Plenty of familiar faces are back for Season 2. In addition to Bob and Patty, there’s Bob’s wife Coralee (Alyssa Milano), the other Bob (Chris Gorham) and his son Brick (Michael Provost), Patty’s mom Angie (Sarah Colonna), and Coralee and Bob’s daughter, Magnolia (Erinn Westbrook).

Rounding out the main cast are the Sinclairs, Regina (Arden Myrin) and her daughter, Dixie (Irene Choi). Oh, and then there’s Nonnie (Kimmy Shields), Patty’s BFF. Plus, there’s new recurring star Alex Landi as Henry Lee, a stripper. Landi is best known for portraying Dr. Nico Kim in Grey’s Anatomy. So get ready for what looks to be a very fun season of TV on Oct. 11, 2019.
