Taylor Swift has just announced the release date for her newest album, and a single will be available quite soon.
As was announced on Swift’s Instagram page on Wednesday afternoon, the first single off of her new album Reputation will be made available on the evening of Thursday, August 24th. She did not specify what time the single will drop.
In addition, Swift also announced that the full Reputation album will be hitting stores on November 10th. The cover depicts Swift being surrounded by newspaper articles about her.
This is Taylor Swift’s sixth album, the first since 2014’s 1989. Between the last album and this one, though, Swift also released the single “I Don’t Want to Live Forever,” which she recorded with Zayn and which was released as part of the soundtrack for Fifty Shades Darker. That song debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In the lead up to Wednesday’s announcement, Swift mysteriously wiped everything from her social media accounts and proceeded to post cryptic videos of snakes. These were presented without comment, though fans assumed that they were meant to build up intrigue ahead of an album announcement.
It’s been some time since Talyor Swift released an album, but E! News reported in May that she was hard at work on new music.
“Taylor has been writing and recording her new album in Nashville for the last several months,” a source told E! News. “She has been working on it around the clock and will be making an announcement soon. She is really excited about her new music and can’t wait to share it with her fans.”
Swift’s most recent album, 1989, sold 1.2 million copies within its first week and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. Three singles, “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” and “Bad Blood” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
