When You Can See Hillary Clinton on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’

Hillary Clinton is heading to late night.

The former Democratic candidate for president will be a guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, CBS announced this week. Clinton will appear on the show on Tuesday, September 19. The Late Show airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.

Clinton is coming on the show to discuss her new book, What Happened, which is being released a week prior to the interview. This book will run through Clinton’s experiences during the 2016 presidential election, talking about what it was like for her to run against Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. In the introduction of What Happened, Clinton promises to finally let her guard down after years of being reserved in public.

This will be Hillary Clinton’s first appearance on The Late Show since April 2016. Right before the New York Democratic primary, Clinton did not actually come to the Ed Sullivan Theater, but she was interviewed by Colbert in a pre-taped segment at the Carnegie Deli. Prior to that, Clinton sat down with Colbert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in October 2015.

The Late Show spot will also be Clinton’s first time appearing on any late night talk show since losing the 2016 election last year. However, it won’t be her first major interview since then, as she’s scheduled to be interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning on September 10 and then on The View on September 13.

This is another major guest for The Late Show, which last month was able to book Anthony Scaramucci for an interview not long after he left the White House only 10 days into his job as White House communications director. According to Variety, the Scaramucci interviewed scored Colbert his best Monday ratings ever. The upcoming Clinton interview is sure to give him a huge ratings boost as well.

Still, the Late Show has not been able to snag every political guest of significance, as hours before CBS announced that Hillary Clinton would be interviewed by Colbert, ABC announced that Sean Spicer would be interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel. That interview with Spicer will air on September 13.
