Where to Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ Series Finale

Game of Thrones is coming to an end. As the show’s series finale approaches, loyal fans and new fans are likely curious where to watch the series finale and what is the best way.

This is the finale of arguably the most popular show on television. Can a mere TV and HBO subscription possibly contain all that anticipation? Or for that matter the heartbreak that is bound to happen, given this show’s track record of breaking viewers’ hearts?

We’ll show you some ways you can watch the finale even if you don’t have a cable. And there are also ways that may be a little more special than a TV in your living room.

How to find a ‘Game of Thrones’ viewing party

If you Google Game of Thrones viewing party, you can do more than just find a viewing party. You may be able to find a venue playing the finale in your area so you can watch it on a huge screen with a huge crowd, like this one in New York City. After all, Emilia Clarke urged viewers to watch last Sunday’s episode on the biggest screen they could find. And who among us is going to argue with Dany? Especially now?

It would be fun if one could watch the Game of Thrones finale on a really big screen, like the one in a movie theater. Unfortunately, that’s probably easier said than done. Some theaters have shown Game of Thrones before, but some theater owners have found that won’t be possible this time. And one of those theaters was owned by none other than George R.R. Martin himself.

When asked why HBO wouldn’t let the theater show the finale, the theater director explained: “They just said no. And so we’ll have to have our own private home parties and enjoy it like the rest of the fans out there.”

The good news there is there is no shortage of ideas on how to throw a viewing party.

How to watch the ‘Game of Thrones’ finale with or without cable

If you’ve got cable or satellite, watching Game of Thrones is easy-peasy. But if you’re a cord-cutter, you can still do it. Obviously, there’s HBO Go and HBO Now, the channel’s streaming apps. The former is for people who have a cable or satellite subscription but want to watch it on the go. The latter is more for the cutters who don’t rely on cable or satellite.

If you can’t go through HBO directly, you can certainly go through services like Hulu or Amazon Channels, although you’ll have to fork over a little extra dough (typically $15) if you don’t have HBO already as part of whatever your service is.

And if you have those friends who can’t contain themselves and are spoiler prone, there’s an app for that too. Of course, this is all assuming that the Game of Thrones finale doesn’t break the Internet harder than Wreck It Ralph.

How the ‘Game of Thrones’ cast is watching the series finale

Just because the cast of Game of Thrones was on the set doesn’t mean they don’t plan to watch the last episode. Like the fans, the actors have a ton of emotions tied up in the series, having put both real and metaphorical blood, sweat and tears into the show

John Bradley said: “That’s going to bring back a lot of memories, and that’s going to feel final … I don’t know how I’m going to feel when the last episode goes. I imagine I’m going to be sad, I’m going to be proud, and happy on some level.”

Carice Van Houten agreed, saying: “I think it’s going to be fun and sad at the same time.”
