Where Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Raise Their Baby?
We’re sure you’ve heard by now that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together and of course, all kinds of speculation about their royal baby has begun.
Bets are already being taken on if the little one will be a boy or a girl and what name they’ll give the child. So far we don’t know the baby’s gender but the early favorites for names are James and Victoria. But what about where the newest royal will be raised? Because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have more than one home, they’ll have a few options of where to live with their child full-time.
Here’s the reason why experts believe the choice for Harry is a simple one.
Prince William moved with his children
Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, didn’t always live at their Apartment 1A Kensington Palace residence with their kids. Following the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015, the family lived in their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, England, full-time.
Prince George even attended a Montessori school near the property. However, after the Duke of Cambridge gave up his flying career to spend more time with his family in 2017, they moved back to the London palace.
So could Markle and Harry choose to raise their child away from the city and paparazzi?
How many properties Markle and Harry have
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s properties include Nottingham Cottage (circled below) at Kensington Palace, their York Cottage country home, and Adelaide Cottage, which was gifted to them by Queen Elizabeth II along with York Cottage as a wedding present.
It was initially thought that following their royal wedding, the prince and former actress would move into the Adelaide property located on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The couple though decided to stay in London at Nottingham where they lived before they got married and experts now think that’s where they will raise their baby because of one very sentimental reason.
Special reason to raise the child at Nottingham
Some royal experts believe that Nottingham Cottage is more than likely the place Harry will want to raise his child since that is where his mother, Princess Diana, raised him and his brother.
The house, nicknamed “Nott Cott” and situated on the grounds of Kensington Palace, is where Prince Harry has resided since 2013. It’s a 1,300-square-foot, two-bedroom home with a small garden. In addition to being where he lived as a child, the home is also special to the pair because it was in the kitchen of the cottage where the prince proposed to Markle while they were “trying to roast a chicken.”
While this seems like a great starter home though, it probably won’t be their forever home especially if they decide to have more kids. In fact, there have been reports that the duke and duchess may move elsewhere on the compound and into a large apartment directly next to William and his family.
So whether it be in Nottingham Cottage or the apartment, all signs point to Markle and Harry raising the baby in London at Kensington Palace.
