Which ‘Below Deck’ Crew Members Are on Chef Ben and João Franco’s Dream Team (And Who Gets a Little Shade)?
So when chef Ben Robinson and bosun João Franco made an appearance, they were asked the question that ended up with a little shade being thrown toward one crew member in particular. The caller lobbed the question their way during the WWHL After Show and Robinson tried to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings.
Robinson asked, “Do they have to be yachties?” Host Andy Cohen replied, “People who’ve been on the show.” So Robinson started thinking and gave his solid answer without trying to step on toes. But Franco’s answer showed who he probably didn’t want to work with again.
He kept his answer pretty vague
Robinson took a stab at his Below Deck yachtie dream team. “I mean I get this a lot,” he contemplates. “I really like the first season of Below Deck original. And I really like the first season of the Med. It would be an amalgamation of them.”
Robinson was the chef on both season one of Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean. But interestingly, his chief stews could be either Hannah Ferrier or Adrienne Gang. While he and chief stew Kate Chastain seemed to have a pretty good working relationship they had a professional falling out the last time he appeared on Below Deck. On the show, they decided they were better as friends than co-workers.
He also wouldn’t seem to commit to a captain either. Instead of Captain Sandy Yawn, Robinson worked under Captain Mark Howard’s leadership. But worked for Captain Lee Rosbach for four seasons. From the interior team, Robinson had a fun relationship with Kat Held from Below Deck and a quirky love connection with Tiffany Copeland Below Deck Med. He also had a strong relationship with bosun Eddie Lucas from Below Deck. But Robinson wouldn’t cherry-pick names on WWHL.
This is one crew member he didn’t want on his dream team
When Cohen turned to Franco, he tried to keep his answer general. But then he didn’t. “I would say …,” Franco started, but then Cohen yelled out, “Brooke [Laughton]!” Franco laughed and then continued. Laughton and Franco were romantically involved last season and had a messy breakup.
“I think completely this season except Hannah,” Franco said. Cohen, stunned, repeated, “Everybody from this season except Hannah, really?” Franco added, “I think as a chief stew, work-related only, there’s a lot more that can be done. That’s my personal opinion.”
During the WHHL network show, Franco shared that he is not on good terms with Aesha Scott and Ferrier. Scott was angry with Franco about social media remarks he made about her. And Ferrier was angry with Franco when he made sexist comments during an earlier WWHL appearance. “I don’t talk to either of them,” he told Cohen. “Aesha blocked me.” Also, he said while he apologized to Ferrier for the WWHL comments, she didn’t accept his apology.
