Which Social Media Influencer Got Blasted By The Cast of ‘Riverdale?’
A single tweet triggered a Twitter war between social media influencer Elija Daniel and a good number of Riverdale cast members. Daniel launched a tweet about the highly popular teen show over the weekend. Usually, the fan base claps back. But this time it was several cast members from the show.
Three days later and the Twitter storm is still on fire. And it doesn’t look like either side is backing down.
What was the tweet that meant shots fired?
Daniel lobbed a tweet on Friday, December 14, “does the riverdale fanbase know the show sucks and don’t care or do they just not know.” Several people agreed, “I used to watch riverdale because it sucked but it sucked so bad that I eventually stopped.”
And of course, others disagreed. “I’ve got to say when I first watched riverdale I didn’t like it and couldn’t get into it and – stay with me – because I stuck it out and by episode 3 OMFG it’s the BEST!!!!!! Also @elijahdaniel who even are you?!”
But then things got weird when ‘Riverdale’ cast members started responding
First on deck to respond was AJ Apa, who plays Archie on Riverdale. “Do your fans know that you’re a f**kn idiot or do they just not care?” Apa lashed out in a tweet. But perhaps many in Apa’s thread sided with Daniel as responses were generally like, “do you really think you snapped….. hes right.” Or “Not that I’m even a Riverdale fan or anything but it would make sense that Elijah’s tweet has more likes as the original tweet is from his account vs KJ being a subtweet.” Ouch.
But then other cast members piled on the next day. Ashleigh Murray, who plays Riverdale‘s Josie McCoy tweeted, “Lol he’s worried about a fanbase when none of us know who he is. People recognize me from the back of my head. What do you do?” Fans seemed to be on Daniel’s side. Again.
And Cole Sprouse as Jughead from Riverdale just tweeted, “What a nice day to ruin my mood with social media.” Since Sprouse didn’t directly address the Daniel tweet he didn’t receive the same backlash as Apa and Murray.
And the war continues to rage
Daniel continued to taunt the cast throughout the weekend with various Riverdale posts. He shaded Murray’s comment with, “i had to google who you were to even know you’re on that show & how are you bragging about how many fans you have when you have less followers than me like sis this is…..embarrassing. all i said was your show isn’t that good anymore why y’all SO mad i can’t breathe.”
And then Daniel went here, “this twitter beef is a better storyline than anything written in that show and with less incest and gaybaiting !” He continued to tweet nonstop, making several questionable remarks about race and sexual orientation.
By Monday, Daniel said the Twitter war with cast members isn’t over yet. “it’s been 3 days & the riverdale cast is still posting about me like if I’m so irrelevant then why are you still on this lmfao i never even insulted any of you personally. also ur lil “we don’t even know u loll” bit cute as if y’all weren’t at game night this summer fake asses.”
