Who Are the New Characters in ‘Frozen 2’?
It has been a few years since Disney premiered their original blockbuster, entitled Frozen. Now, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf are back and ready for more adventures together. Although the film does not premiere until November, fans got a look at a few new characters, thanks to teasers from Disney. Who are the new characters in Frozen 2? Here’s what we know about Queen Iduna and Lieutenant Matthias.
Elsa and Anna’s parents will appear in the ‘Frozen’ sequel
The cold never bothered her anyway and now, fans are wondering why. Frozen 2 might hold the answers, as the caption of the trailer states, “why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom.”
Thanks to IMDB, it’s pretty much confirmed that Anna and Elsa’s parents are coming back for this sequel. The original queen and king of Arendelle, Iduna and Agnarr respectively, are listed among the cast. According to IMDB, Evan Rachel Wood will portray Iduna. In a post from the Walt Disney Studios
There’s a character named Lieutenant Matthias in the ‘Frozen’ sequel
According to IMDB, characters like Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf return to this sequel. As expected, the cast of Frozen 2 holds a few new faces. That includes a character named Lieutenant Matthias, portrayed by Sterling K. Brown.
In a post from Disney, fans saw Princess Anna talking to this character as an adult. However, it’s not exactly clear what role he will play in this sequel. When Kristen Bell, the voice of Anna, was asked about Sterling K. Brown joining the cast, she expressed her admiration for the actor.
“I mean I would rocket to the moon!” Bell said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I’ve been such a fan of Sterling’s for so long. I want him in everything.”
Who are the two characters in the ‘Frozen’ teaser trailer?
Not much has been revealed about these two kids with apparent fall powers. Could they be from another kingdom? How do they have fall powers, and how did Elsa get her ice powers? Fans hope to learn more about the film from upcoming clips. Until then, there are a few theories regarding these new characters.
Some fans believe that these new characters may be related to Elsa and possibly even the children of Kristoff and Anna. With the girl sporting brown hair and the boy with Kristoff’s shade of blond.

They might not be as cute as Olaf, but the trailer for Frozen 2 also introduces viewers to a few new creatures. That includes a rock monster similar to the snowman from the original Frozen and an underwater horse figure. However, not much has been revealed about these characters. Fans will just have to wait until the movie to find out more.
