Demi Lovato made headlines on July 24th, 2017 when she was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home. News of the former Disney star’s apparent overdose went rampant, and fans from all over the world began to panic. Lovato was hospitalized in LA where a heroin overdose was confirmed. After her near-death experience, she checked into rehab.

Lovato had been living a private life, but after she cleared her 90-day mark she let her fans know she was doing great! Now that the ‘Sorry not Sorry’ singer is back on her feet she’s making headlines again, but this time they’re all about her new beau, Henri Levy.

Henri Alexander Levy is the controversial designer behind the Los Angeles/Paris luxury fashion line, Enfants Riches Déprimés. Levy was born to a wealthy family but despite the silver spoon in his mouth took an issue with his fellow rich kids. Levy’s personality constantly clashed with others due to his unusual ideals. His unconventional character even resulted in him being kicked out of several schools, one of which is the most expensive boarding school in the country, Le Rosey in Switzerland.

The wealthy roots of the Jewish born designer caused him quite a bit of conflict. It contradicts with the driving force behind the punk movement, a significant source of his inspiration. After all, punk is all about the working class being tired of “the man,” how could a rich kid possibly relate?

A bit about Enfants Riches Déprimés

Levy’s label, which translates to Depressed Rich Kids, takes advantage of artificial scarcity, creating one-of-a-kind and limited run pieces that sell for exorbitant prices. T-shirts can go for over $1,000, and his leather jackets have gone for as much as $95,000. Levy has no desire to sell to the masses and his unique hardcore punk vibe weeds out the customers who he probably wouldn’t want wearing his stuff anyway.

Despite the line’s controversial nature and crazy high prices, it successfully piqued the interest of many of the Hollywood elite. You’ve probably seen some of your favorite A-list celebs rocking his designs without even realizing it. Beyoncé, Courtney Love, G Dragon, Jared Leto, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Sophie Richie have all been caught repping Levy’s brand. Lovato is also an ERD fan and has been adorning herself in the brand for years.

How did Demi Lovato and Henri Levy meet?

The two Hollywood celebs are no stranger to the dangers of drug addiction, so it’s not surprising that they met while at rehab. Levy has been dabbling with drugs since he was a teenager. His first trip was to Visions Adolescent Treatment in Malibu when he was just 15 years old. Future rehab check-ins included Cirque Lodge in Utah and Promises in Malibu. A Betty Ford treatment center in Hazelden, Oregon was one of the designer’s “favorites” since his bunkmates were 50-year-old meth heads instead of ritzy rich kids and celebs looking for a way out. Unfortunately, Levy constantly fell back into old patterns. It wasn’t until he set his sights on his fashion goals that he was able to finally stay sober.

Lovato opened up about her drug and alcohol abuse back in 2013. The brunette bombshell talked about her harrowing addiction to cocaine and how she couldn’t function without taking a bump every hour. She would sneak drugs and alcohol everywhere and despite having a sober companion couldn’t abandon her “live fast die young” lifestyle. It wasn’t until Lovato was 19 that she decided to turn her life around. Considering recent events, it’s clear Lovato was unable to kick her unhealthy habits despite her rehab run-ins.

How long have Lovato and Levy been together?

While the two have known each other for years, it wasn’t until recently that the beloved star was seen dishing out PDA on the problematic fashion icon. Late last year they were spotted several times sharing bits and pieces of their romance with the public. In November the two cozied up with for coffee in West Hollywood. They were also spotted grabbing a bite to eat at a sushi restaurant and supporting one another at an AA meeting.

It wasn’t until the two took their love to social media that fans took their buddy-buddy behavior as a serious indication of a real relationship. An Instagram story featured the two making out, and fans quickly captured the moment to share with those who may have missed it. The pairing is alarming to some considering their drug history, but it’s clear that Levy is using his own experiences to support Lovato in her journey to sobriety.
