Who is Emma Stone’s Fiancé, Dave McCary?
We had no idea that Emma Stone was dating anyone — let alone that she was engaged. The last time the Cruella actress’ romantic life was in the news — she was datng her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield. However, in 2015 after a four-year whirlwind romance — the duo decided to go their separate ways.
Still, Garfield and Stone have remained friends. “There was no drama, they’ve been apart while working. They still care about each other,” a source told People amid their breakup. “They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close.”
Now, Stone has a new man in her life, Dave McCary. Now in the middle of the holiday season, the pair are newly engaged. Though the couple has been purposeful about keeping their romance under wraps and away from the glaring light of the media, with their engagement — all eyes will surely be on them in no time.

Way back in October 2017 — People caught wind of Stone and McCary’s romance. McCary, a two-time Emmy nominee, works on Saturday Night Live as a segment director and writer. However, since he isn’t in the limelight the pair were able to keep their relationship on the down-low for at least three months.
Though neither speak about their relationship, they have been spotted out and about in New York City on various date nights. In April 2019 — Stone hosted SNL again which seemed like a full-circle moment for the duo’s romance.
This is how Emma Stone and Dave McCary met
In late 2016 many months before they began dating — Stone hosted SNL. During the gig, she starred in a sketch titled “Wells for Boys,” which McCary directed.
We aren’t sure if sparks flew right then and there or if the duo were simply just friendly However, we do know that by the next year the pair found themselves in a full-blown romance. In July 2017 — Stone was spotted supporting McCary at his feature directorial debut — Brigsby Bear.

Though we don’t expect to get many intimate details about McCary’s proposal to Stone, we do know a few things. On Dec. 5 McCary hopped on his Instagram page to share a photo of himself and Stone grinning into the camera.
In the photo, The Favourite actress’ left hand is positioned in the frame and on her ring finger she’s wearing a stunning vintage pearl and diamond engagement ring. Though McCary didn’t elaborate on the engagment — we can assume that his proposal may have occurred around the Thanksgiving holiday. After all, the holidays are a primetime for many couples to get engaged.
Along with the looks of pure bliss and euphoria on Stone and McCary’s faces — the SNL director also captioned the photo with a simple heart emoji. We think that pretty much sums up how they both are feeling.
