The latest royal wedding is almost here. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are set to get married on October 12, 2018. Who is the man who will become Princess Eugenie’s husband?

Here’s what we know about Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie’s fiancé.

How Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank met

Jack was friends with Princess Eugenie’s cousin, Prince William. They officially met in 2010 during a Switzerland ski trip. Eugenie’s family was celebrating the 50th birthday of her father, the Duke of York. When they met, Brooksbank was working as a waiter and Eugenie was a student at Newcastle University. Eugenie and Jack told the host of BBC’s The One Show with Matt Baker their meeting was “love at first sight.”

Jack is connected to his own royal family

Jack has his own royal family connection. He is a descendant of the Brooksbank baronets, according to The Telegraph. A baronet is a title that is one step below baron.

Jack and Eugenie are related

Jack’s royal connection doesn’t stop there. That’s right, Jack and Princess Eugenie are reportedly distant cousins. The Telegraph reports Princess Eugenie’s mother, the Duchess of York, is the great-great-granddaughter of Lady Julia Coke, who is the daughter of Jack’s great-great-grandfather, Thomas Coke.

What he does for a living

During the early years of their courtship, Jack was a waiter and drink server at Devonshire Terrace, a bar and restaurant in London. Instead of going to college, he decided to work in the hospitality industry. His interest in hospitality led him to Chelsea’s Admiral Codrington pub. He then went on to work at the Markham Inn.

Although working in the hospitality industry isn’t glamorous, Princess Eugenie’s mother doesn’t seem to have a problem with his career choice. Said Eugenie’s mother in an interview with The One Show, “The good news is Jack also works as the European Manager for Casamigos Tequila, so I am perfect,” she said. “He’ll just hand me the tequila and say, ‘Come on, mother-in-law, down it’.”

Princess Eugenie’s family likes him

Fortunately for Brooksbank, he is favored by his future in-laws. Princess Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, had nothing but good things to say about Brooksbank. He took to Twitter to share his joy after the couple announced their engagement. “Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and Eugenie and he have got to know each other over a number of years, and I’m really thrilled for them,” he said. Princess Eugenie’s mother also shared her excitement on Twitter: “We love Jack and I am so excited to have a son, a brother and a best friend. Eugenie is one of the finest people I know and so together it will be pure harmony,” she said.

Jack’s grandmother is happy about the upcoming nuptials

Jack’s grandmother, Joanna Newton, said she’s happy her grandson will be marrying Princess Eugenie. However, she also admitted to being surprised he snagged such a great girl. Said Newton, “It’s amazing. I would never have thought it for a moment that it was going to happen, and we are all very happy,” she told The Sun. “I never thought he would get married to a royal.”
