Who Is Julie Chen’s Husband, Les Moonves?

Julie Chen is called the “hostess with the mostest” by many. The reason? Chen’s impressive resume. She is not only a talk show personality best known for her work on The Talk and Celebrity Big Brother, but she is also a reality television host, news anchor, and CBS producer. Her husband, Les Moonves, also has a rather impressive resume. Unfortunately, the resumes haven’t meant much in light of recent scandals.

Who is Julie Chen?

Julie Chen is an American talk show personality, reality television host, news anchor, and CBS producer. Her most notable on-screen appearances were on The Talk, Big Brother, Entertainment Tonight, and CBS This Morning. Chen has recently announced amidst her husband’s troubles she will still be hosting the newest season of Celebrity Big Brother.

Who is Julie Chen’s husband, Les Moonves?

Leslie Roy Moonves is a media executive who served as CEO for the CBS television network from 2003 until late 2018. Moonves resigned from his position after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct (discussed below). He has been with Chen since 2003, and the two have been married since 2004. Julie Chen and Les Moonves got together just months after Moonves previous marriage with Nancy Wiesenfeld ended.

After he stepped down, CBS denied Moonves of his $120 million severance package because they stated he had violated his contract. Les Moonves has recently stated that he will fight for his exit package because there is no substantial proof he has violated any of the contract’s terms.

What happened at CBS to place Moonves in the headlines?

Les Moonves’ name has been plastered in the headlines recently due to allegations against him regarding sexual misconduct. The allegations come from several different women and range from recent encounters to some 20 or more years ago. According to an article, the sexual misconduct involved “unwanted kissing and touching” from Moonves to the females in question.

The accusations came out as a piece done by Ronan Farrow for The New Yorker. In it, the well-know journalist states that six women have come forth with accusations. The article says that, of the six women, “Four described forcible touching or kissing during business meetings… Two [of the women said]… that Moonves physically intimidated them or threatened to derail their careers. All said that he became cold or hostile after they rejected his advances, and that they believed their careers suffered as a result.

While two of the women accusing Moonves of sexual misconduct were too afraid to have their names made public, the other four are notable. They include Illeana Douglas (actress, writer), Janet Jones (writer), Christine Peters (producer), and Dinah Kinso (actress).

Chen and Moonves’s relationship seems perfect

Before the sexual assault allegations, Julie Chen and Les Moonves seemed to have a perfect relationship. The two met at CBS when Moonves was Chen’s boss. The two have a 20 year age difference, but images of them show a happy couple madly in love. Although Chen never imagined the family life was for her, she and Moonves have a nine-year-old son together named Charlie.

Even amidst all the chaos in their relationship currently, Chen has been a loyal and faithful wife. She has openly and publicly supported her husband throughout the scandals he currently faces.

How has Julie Chen supported her husband?

Amidst the lawsuits and Moonves stepping down from his position, Julie Chen has stood by her husband. In addition to stepping down from her position on The Talk, Chen released a statement to Twitter publicly showing her support of Moonves.

The statement read: “I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late ’90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years. Leslie is a good man, and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent, and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.”
