It was a big weekend for Miley Cyrus fans. The woman’s life has been like a Lifetime movie with twist after twist. First, it was announced that Cyrus had split from her husband of just eight months, Liam Hemsworth.

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep for Cyrus told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Then, just as people were starting to wrap their heads around the whole Hemsworth, Cyrus split, pictures started floating around that showed Cyrus making out with a woman. But not just any woman. Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter.

Who is Carter?

Many people were introduced to Carter as Jenner’s wife this season of The Hills: New Beginnings.

Before meeting Jenner, Carter graduated with an English degree from the University of New Hampshire in 2010. She then started a style blog and an e-commerce site called Foray Collective.

Then in 2013, everything changed when she and Jenner met at a party.

As soon as Jenner saw Carter, he wanted her.

“I was going after her,” Jenner once told People of that first meeting. “She’s an amazing girl.”

And Carter was well aware that he was pursuing her.

“He was really honest about what he wanted, no messing around, and I found that really charming and refreshing. Pretty soon after we started dating, I thought it could be for life.”

In 2016, the couple got engaged and by 2018, they had gotten married in a ceremony off the coast of Indonesia.

But the wedded bliss didn’t last for too long.

“Brody Jenner & Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate,” a rep for the pair told HollywoodLife last week. “They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”

Apparently, Carter was ready to have kids and Jenner wasn’t.

“They were fighting about having a baby, but it was more than that,” a source told the outlet. “It could’ve been the smallest thing that set them off, which just led to constant bickering.”

But luckily for the pair, the paperwork needed to be done after their split will be minimal as they were never legally married.

“They never really legally married since they had a wedding overseas,” the source said. “Brody and Kaitlynn were both fully aware their marriage wasn’t legal in the U.S., and they were honestly OK with that. It was clear it was never a priority to fix it.”

Carter and Cyrus

Though Cyrus and Carter were caught kissing by a pool in Italy, sources have said that the relationship is nothing serious.

The women are “just having fun,” a source told People.

This isn’t Cyrus’ first foray with women.

“I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it,” she told Elle earlier this summer. “I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a f—ing apron cooking dinner? I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women.”

“People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f–ing good, and I know that,” she added. “I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.”
