Who Is Kate Middleton’s Mother and Why Don’t We Hear More From Her?
Kate Middleton is one of the most beloved members of the royal family. Her longtime relationship with Prince William, as well as her three adorable children, have solidified her status in Britain’s affections.
Middleton is the epitome of style, grace, and beauty, and while she’s the picture of perfection at all times, even right after giving birth, it seems as though that trait runs in the family. Kate Middleton’s mother is an admirable force of nature and provides the perfect example of maternal strength for the duchess.
What does Kate Middleton’s mother do?
Born in 1955, Carole Middleton grew up in a middle-class family and was reportedly a good student. Following the completion of her studies, Middleton worked as a secretary before beginning her career as a flight attendant.
Middleton met her future husband, Michael Middleton, in the late 70s, and the two tied the knot in 1980. Michael Middleton was no slouch, and inherited a large sum of money on his mother’s side, making the young couple quite wealthy.
However, the Middletons were hard workers, and in 1987, Carole Middleton founded the company Party Pieces. The company began by selling decorative bags and eventually expanded to sell a wide variety of decorations and party supplies by mail order. It proved to be a booming business and contributed to the Middleton family wealth.
The money earned through the success of Party Pieces enabled the Middletons to be able to send all three of their children, including their eldest daughter Catherine, to the very finest private schools. It was at the prestigious St. Andrews University that young Kate Middleton met, and began a relationship with Prince William.
Following her graduation, Kate Middleton followed her mother’s example and worked at Party Pieces for a time. Following her engagement to Prince William, Middleton stepped away from the family business in order to focus on learning more about her duties as a royal, but she needn’t have worried about the future of Party Pieces.
A devoted grandmother
Carole Middleton spends a great deal of her time these days tending to the processes of Party Pieces and watching out over her grandchildren. Middleton has made the conscious decision to remain a very private person, and hardly ever speaks out to the press. In fact, she’s only ever really allowed one major interview, in which she revealed how similar her daughters are to her, and how close the family remains.
Middleton spoke out about how important it has been to involve her children in the family business, and although the Middleton’s lives have changed in a big way since Kate Middleton married Prince William, it seems that they all stay in touch regularly via text message. Carole Middleton is also committed to her grandchildren and divides much of her time between Kate Middleton’s three young children and Pippa Middleton’s new baby son.
What does the royal family think of Middleton’s mother?
While it’s true that Middleton’s family isn’t often photographed around the rest of the royal family, the explanation seems to be simple enough – the family values their privacy. Some recent reports have claimed that Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle’s mother, is much more in favor with the royal family, but there doesn’t seem to be any real truth to that.
The Middletons have been mainstays for years, and their dedication to their family is something that is to be admired and looked up to.
There’s little doubt that Kate Middleton loves and respects her mother, and has looked to her example of hard work and success as a role model for her own efforts in life. She will need her guidance even more as she prepares to become the next queen.
