One of them is Naomi Scott. Even though this might be the biggest role Scott has had to date, the actress has been part of the industry for some time now.

Let’s take a look at how Naomi Scott went from a young musician to starring in one of the biggest films of 2019.

She was born and raised in London

Naomi Grace Scott was born on May 6, 1993, in London, England.

Her mother is from Uganda and is of Gujarati Indian descent while her father is British.

Both of Scott’s parents are pastors at the Bridge Church, Woodford in Redbridge, United Kingdom, and Naomi spent most of her time as a child in church.

Though her parents believed strongly in their religion, they never pressured Naomi to adopt the same beliefs as them and allowed her to discover her own faith.

“Yes, I have a belief system, but I don’t know everything, and we’re all just as messed up as each other,” she revealed during her interview with W.

Being a church kid also helped Naomi discover her love for music at a young age.

“I grew up singing in the church actually. That’s kind of where I just the usual, I grew up on gospel music. I was singing from a young age.” she told Huffington Post back in March 2017. “I remember that I chose ‘Don’t Speak’ by No Doubt so that was my first kind of performance. I think from there, I felt like it was something I actually really enjoyed and wanted to do.”

Scott began her singing career with the Bridge Church Youth Band and performed regularly in school musicals and drama productions.

It wasn’t until Naomi Scott was discovered by British pop singer Kelle Bryan when her career as a musician started to take off.

Shortly after signing with Kelle Bryna, Naomi Scott went on to work with British songwriters and producers Xenomania to release her very first EP.

In 2014, Scott released her EP, Invisible Division and in 2017, she released her second EP, Promises.

Not only does she sing, but Scott writes and also plays the piano while performing her music in front of live audiences.

Her acting career started on Disney Channel

By the time she was a teenager, Naomi Scott landed her very first acting role on the Disney Channel UK series Life Bites in 2010.

A year later, the actress was cast as Mohini “Mo” Banjaree in the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth, alongside Haley Kiyoko and Bridget Mendler.

In October 2015, Scott was cast as the Pink Ranger in the Power Rangers film, which was released in 2017. The film earned the actress her first Teen Choice Award nomination.

Now that Naomi Scott has wrapped up filming for the live-action remake of Aladdin, in which she plays Princess Jasmine, the actress has already landed her next lead role.

Scott will be starring alongside Kristen Stewart as one of the three lead ‘Angels’ in the new reboot film of Charlie’s Angels, which is set to be released on November 15, 2019.
