Who Is The Most Powerful Avenger? The Top Spot May Surprise You

There has been a lot of talk about who is the most powerful superhero in the MCU, and Avengers: Endgame may have settled the debate once and for all. In what proved an exciting film, our favorite superheroes battled Thanos in a last-ditch attempt to bring back everyone who died in the snap. Each hero had the opportunity to face Thanos in the final battle scene and we finally learned which Avenger was the most powerful.

The Avengers battle Thanos

Although Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was the one who ultimately killed Thanos, several of the Avengers got a chance to fight the villain one-on-one. Thor had both his ax and lighting, yet he could not defeat the Mad Titan.

Captain America and Iron Man also had their chance to take down Thor but could not do it on their own — though it was pretty amazing watching Cap wield Mjolnir. At one point, Thor took on all three of the superheroes at the same time, proving they were no match for him.

The only character who seemed to have Thanos beat was Captain Marvel, who actually did a good job holding her ground. But even still, Captain Marvel and Thanos were fairly evenly matched and she was not able to do any real damage. There was one Avenger, however, who actually had Thanos worried that he was about to be defeated — and it is not someone you might guess.

Who is the most powerful Avenger?

While fans were hoping that they would see Hulk square off with Thanos once again, he had to use the Infinity Stones to bring everyone back to life. Instead, the one character who actually gave Thanos a run for his money was the Scarlett Witch.

At one point during their confrontation, Wanda cleared Thanos’ armor with her magic and levitated him into the air. Thanos looked genuinely surprised and scared for his life under the power of the Scarlett Witch.

Wanda, of course, got her powers after she came into contact with the Mind Stone, which automatically makes her one of the strongest Avengers. The only reason Thanos got away was because his spaceship started firing on Wanda’s position, which broke her concentration.

If it had not been for his army, there is a strong chance that Wanda would have ended Thanos’ run all by herself. The other Avengers might be more skilled than Wanda in certain aspects, but when it comes to raw strength, she might have everyone beat.

What about Captain Marvel and Thor?

Although there is no debating that Wanda is more powerful that most of the Avengers, an argument could be made that Thor and Captain Marvel are actually stronger. Like Wanda, Captain Marvel’s powers come from an Infinity Stone.

Back in the day, Carol Danvers was exposed to the Space Stone, giving her superhuman speed and strength, and the ability to fly. She can also blast people with photo rays from her hands and was trained by the Kree in combat.

For his part, Thor is about as close to a god as it gets. He cannot die, can fly with the help of his hammer, and is easily one of the strongest of the Avengers. Thor is at his highest strength when he is wielding one of his weapons, either Mjolnir or Stormbreaker, but he can still call upon lighting whenever he needs.

Between the three, you could argue that any one of them is stronger than other, depending on the circumstances. But it is important to note that we have not seen any of them at their fullest potential in the same film, so it is difficult to make an honest comparison.

Aside from the big three, the Hulk is an honorable mention. It is unclear if there is anything that can kill everyone’s favorite green monster, though his one downside is that his powers are connected to rage. As we witnessed in Avengers: Infinity War, calling upon the Hulk is not always reliable, especially when he is dealing with internal conflicts.
