Find out more about the man behind the anchor. Guthrie’s husband is Michael Feldman and here’s how they met, how long they’ve been married, and more about their life together.
How they met
The couple’s love story began at Feldman’s 40th birthday party in 2008. Guthrie had tagged along with a friend to the party.
She had just recently divorced from her first husband, BBC News journalist Mark Orchard, in 2009, after four years of marriage. The newly named White House correspondent’s personal life was not doing nearly as well as her professional one.
She and Feldman began dating soon after Guthrie’s divorce, and became engaged four years later in 2013.
“He actually got on one knee and I still thought we were just talking. Really, honestly. And then, he brought out the box and then I didn’t open it for a long time cause I was just overcome,” she said on Today. Feldman also called in to the show for the special announcement saying, “It’s not bad being the luckiest guy in the world.”
What Feldman does for a living
Feldman worked as a Democratic political aide, as well as traveling chief of staff to Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election campaign. Now working as a consultant, he is the founding partner and managing director of The Glover Park Group, a firm through which Feldman offers his political savvy to help Hollywood clients shape their messaging.
“What we do is help studios think about what the broader conversation is going to be,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Who’s going to care about a film like The Hurt Locker or Captain Phillips? What kind of conversation is going to happen about the work apart from the usual cinematic one?”
Guthrie and Feldman’s children
It was at their March 15, 2014 wedding reception that the happy couple shared even more happy news with their guests. They announced that Guthrie was four months along in her pregnancy and their first child would be arriving by the end of that summer.
Before having her daughter, Guthrie penned a sweet Father’s Day article about Feldman and what she hopes her children get from him.
“I hope our baby gets his quick wit, his peaceful disposition, his kindness. I hope our baby gets his patience and compassion. But the best thing that I know our baby will get is his example,” she wrote for Today.com.
Feldman also wrote a letter to their daughter.
“You already have her beautiful blue eyes, a great albeit toothless smile, and an infectious laugh,” he wrote for Today.com. “But I hope you also get her kind heart, keen wit, analytical mind, strong morals and the kind of joy for life and people that makes you someone that people really want to be around.”
