Who Were the Most Googled Celebrities of 2018?

As 2018 winds down, Google has unveiled its list of the most-searched celebrities of the year. Lots of stars made headlines in 2018, but can you guess which celebs made the top 10 and who was the most Googled person of the entire year?

While there are a few obvious names some of the results may surprise you. From musicians to a reality star to a royal and a Supreme Court Judge, here’s the list of the most Googled people of 2018.

You may think that the newest and most-talked-about royal of the year, Meghan Markle, topped the Google searches but while that’s true in the U.K., she was not the most Googled celebrity in the U.S.

Taking the No. 1 spot for the searches in the states was singer Demi Lovato. The “Sorry Not Sorry” artist was hospitalized after emergency responders were called to her residence last July for an apparent drug overdose. The singer then entered rehab for substance abuse.

The Duchess of Sussex did come in behind Lovato for the most overall searches in the U.S. The former Suits actress had been in the news more and more ever since she announced her engagement to England’s Prince Harry. The two were married in a highly-publicized royal wedding in May and after that the headlines about Markle, both good and bad, never seized. Her estranged family members frequently spoke to the press about her, there were reports that she was feuding with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, and on top of that Markle and the prince announced in October that they were expecting their first child together.

At the No. 3 spot on Google’s most-searched list is now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The judge gained the notoriety that many celebrities have in these days of the #MeToo movement after his confirmation was held up following accusations of sexual misconduct. Both Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Following a close vote in early October, Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

YouTuber Logan Paul was No. 4 on the list followed by Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian, rapper Eminem, and former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

The final three spots on the list belong to more musicians. Ariana Grande, who captured headlines with her quickie relationship and engagement to Saturday Night Live regular Pete Davidson, was No. 8. Hip-hop artist Rick Ross was No. 9, and new rap sensation Cardi B rounded out the top 10.

In the U.K. Lovato, Kardashian, and Logan Paul each made that list as well.

Sylvester Stallone

Hollywood heavyweight Sylvester Stallone was on the most-searched celebrities list across the pond. He also made the top 10 in the actors-only category in the U.S. Stallone took the No. 3 spot in the states and No. 9 spot in the U.K in 2018 as it was the year the film Creed II came out and he announced that his appearance in that would be his last as the character Rocky Balboa.
