Why A Royal Feud Hurts Prince Harry More Than Prince William

Prince William and Prince Harry grew up spending the majority of their time together. They were incredibly close and grew even more attached to each other following the untimely death of their mother, Princess Diana. Even as adults, the royal brothers seemed as though they had an unbreakable bond that nothing and no one could undo.

Still, in the past several years, rumors of a feud between the two have intensified. Many claim that Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle caused a rift between the two that still hasn’t healed, while others point out that they could have just grown apart as adults sometimes do.

When did the feud rumors start?

The problems between the brothers reportedly started when Prince Harry began dating Meghan Markle in 2016. According to royal sources, Prince Harry was offended when Prince William suggested that he take his relationship with Markle slowly and not commit to anything right off the bat.

It was also reported that Prince Harry was angry because he felt as though neither Prince William or Kate Middleton made enough of an effort to make Meghan Markle feel welcome.

Then, six months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married, the newlyweds announced that they would be separating their households from that of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s. This was seen as a major move and a clear statement that Prince Harry was ready to start living his life on his own terms, without anyone else’s approval.

Following the birth of Archie Harrison in May 2019, things seemed to quiet down in the royal family for a time — at least, between Prince William and Prince Harry. After all, the birth of a new baby brings family members together in a big way. Still, over the summer, the feud rumors reignited in earnest, with tabloids claiming that Prince Harry was taking potshots at his older brother by making statements about how and Markle wouldn’t have more than two children because of the potential negative effects on the environment.

A feud hurts Prince Harry more than Prince William

Prince William has certainly faced his share of troubles with the press, but it’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who are experiencing the lion’s share of public outrage and media crucifixion. Prince Harry, always so beloved by fans, has begun to represent hypocrisy and preachiness, and it could take a lot for his image to begin to be restored to what it was.

Some royal experts recently spoke out, stating that whatever bad blood there is between the brothers right now needs to end for the sake of Prince Harry’s future happiness. When all is said and done, Prince William is the only person who can really understand the pressures of public life quite as Prince Harry can.

Plus, now that Prince Harry is a father, he will need advice from his older brother more than ever. Ultimately, royal experts agree that a continued feud between the brothers hurts Prince Harry much more than it will Prince William, who is already established in the public eye and for the most part, stays out of tabloid headlines.

What’s next for Prince William and Prince Harry?

Prince Harry has a small escape from the British press planned – in just a few days, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Archie Harrison will be traveling to Africa to work with different charities there. The time away might do more than just raise awareness for charities, though.

It might also allow Prince William and Prince Harry enough time to reflect about everything that has happened between them in the past few years and how they can repair their relationship going forward.
