Why Adam and Danielle Busby From ‘OutDaughtered’ Were Slammed for Their Parenting
There are plenty of famous parents in the reality TV world known for having multiple kids in one pregnancy. Jon and Kate Gosselin from Jon & Kate Plus 8 first came on to the scene for having sextuplets, and we’ll never forget about Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their 19 children. Now, we also have Adam and Danielle Busby, the first couple in America to have all-female quintuplets.
Fans have fallen in love with Adam and Danielle over their past few seasons on OutDaughtered, but it seems not every viewer of the show likes their parenting. Here’s why they can’t stop getting slammed for their parental choices.

These 6 beautiful girls keep me on the go and active. It seemed like I was always taking off my wedding ring in order to do things with them outside or going to the gym and inevitably would forget where I put it. We never have to slow down for anything to go take our rings off and get to keep our metal rings safe for special occasions. ✨Qalo.com is offering 20% off until June 12th and I’m partnering with them to also give you free shipping if you use the code: BUSBY at checkout!✨ Join the Qalo family and get you and your spouse one like Danielle And I! #QALOring #OutDaughtered
We were first introduced to Adam and Danielle Busby back in 2016, but by the end of 2017, they were already making waves with some of their choices as parents. In Touch Weekly reports Adam was causing particular concern for his “Daddy Scarecam” prank. Essentially, he would sneak up behind his young daughters and then make a loud noise to scare them for a laugh, all while recording the terror for his followers to laugh at, too.
Many fans were in total uproar over the prank, though others did come to Adam’s defense. As one fan wrote, “It’s a bummer that certain people have to ruin such a sweet and innocent post.” And even licensed psychotherapist Lyss Stern confirmed to Today that as long as the kids are having fun with the game, then there’s really nothing to worry about.
The Busbys were also slammed for not having a fenced-in pool
Even worse than the Daddy Scarecam for fans was the Busby’s pool situation at their home. Toward the end of 2018, fans of the Busbys wondered where the family went as they took a break from social media. Adam and Danielle then revealed they were forced into relocation, In Touch Weekly reports, and thus they were getting things arranged in their new home. And fans freaked out when they saw one Instagram post from Danielle that showed daughter Hazel near their pool that wasn’t fenced in.
“Why doesn’t the pool have a fence around it?” one commenter asked — and Danielle was quick to respond. “We just moved into this lease house and they came to get ale [sic] measurement and it’s on order. Don’t worry… I’m paranoid without the fence. Ready for it to come get installed!” the mother of quintuplets said. Other fans came to Danielle’s defense as well. Another of her followers added, “I grew up with a pool and no fence. I’m still here. It doesn’t make you a bad parent if you don’t have a fence around your pool.”
Adam and Danielle have made it clear they’re trying their best
No matter what they’re getting parent-shamed for, it’s clear Adam and Danielle do the best they can for their family of eight. In Touch Weekly noted that Danielle cared enough about the fence controversy to also address the question more formally. She explained that the pool fence is “100% a huge priority or protection that we’ve got to have for that” and she also explained that installation of the fence was already scheduled.
It appears moving with six young children after having issues with their house proved to be quite a task for the Busbys, so they tried to give their fans updates while still putting their family first. Whether they let their fan base in on what they’re up to frequently or not, we can all know for sure that no matter what, they have their children’s best interests in mind.
