Why Are Wendy Williams and Howard Stern Feuding?
Wendy Williams is a 54-year-old television host best known for The Wendy Williams Show. Howard Stern is a 65-year-old radio host and television personality whose rise to stardom was his gritty, R-rated talk show The Howard Stern Show which started back in 1986.
These two talk show legends, however, have been making headlines recently for a very heated feud that has shocked audiences. Neither side has decided to play nice, and honestly, it’s been pretty cut-throat. If words could kill.
But what started this big fiasco to begin with? Why are Wendy Williams and Howard Stern feuding? Here’s what we know.
Wendy Williams started the feud by calling Howard Stern “Hollywood”
Wendy Williams began the feud when she was talking about Howard Stern’s new book on her talk show. The title, Howard Stern Comes Again, is his first publication in over twenty years with his previous title, Miss America, which was released back in 1995. Williams, however, did not really have nice things to say about Stern’s newest work, claiming he had “gone Hollywood” and that he was going soft.
“…since you’ve gone Hollywood, everything you say is so predictable…” Williams stated. “He’s a Hollywood insider, which sucks. You started like me, being of the people. But at some point you sat behind the microphone for too long and now you are the people.”
Ouch. Williams should have known better… or at least known what she was asking for. Howard Stern has earned his way in radio for never caring what others thought, and he has always been controversial. If Williams was asking for a clap back, Stern definitely delivered.
Howard Stern responds with an enraged, cut-throat rant
When Howard Stern heard what Wendy Williams had said about his book, he went ballistic. In fact, he was so angry that a considerable portion of his Sirius XM radio talk show was dedicated to telling Williams – and all the listeners at home – exactly what he thought of her.
Stern started out by calling Williams a “jealous bitch,” and went on to say that she is nobody to him. That was some of the tamer things the shock jock had to say, as he continued with telling Williams that “You’ll never be me, Wendy… You can pretend to be me… but you’re not.” Stern went on to tell Wendy that she couldn’t have his career, because she doesn’t have either his wit nor his talent.
Stern defended himself with the statement “What evidence do you have that I’m Hollywood, honey? I grew up a scumbag and I’m still treated like a scumbag… She doesn’t know who I’m hanging out with. She doesn’t know what I do in this world. She doesn’t know who I’m f*cking with.”
Stern also called Williams out by saying that she is actually the one who is Hollywood. He supported this return accusation by saying that “All she talks on that show is about Hollywood. That’s as Hollywood as you get…”
Howard Stern issues warning and threats
Besides simply calling out the host of The Wendy Williams Show, Stern issued warnings and threats that he did not even attempt to make subtle – which, of course, would have been out of character for the radio host, anyways. “I’m not somebody you want to f*ck with, honey. I don’t want to hear your bullsh*t. And you’re not a nice person. Nobody likes you…”
Waiting for a response
Amidst the feud, fans are still waiting on a response from Wendy Williams. She has, as of this writing, not responded to Stern’s long-winded and absolutely vicious verbal attack. Whether she will or not remains to be seen, but since Stern’s call out was so public it would not look good on the persona Williams is trying to uphold. If she is really “for the people,” and “controversial,” as she has claimed to be, fans hope she will dedicate a portion of her talk show to a rebuttal.
