Why Aubrey O’Day Is Being Criticized
Aubrey O’Day is not a stranger to controversy. A member of the ever-changing girl group, Danity Kane, and reality star is known for making headlines for her work and spunky personality. She’s known as the sexier member of the group as well as being outspoken against inequality and anything else she disagrees with.
Aubrey is also known to date a few public figures and has been open about her love life throughout the years. The star has had her fair share of criticism from the media but a recent social media post has fans not only criticizing her, but concerned for her well-being.
Fans notice Aubrey O’Day facial changes
Aubrey O’Day is probably the most active Danity Kane member on social media. She posts often to her Instagram and Twitter accounts, staying connected to her fans while promoting upcoming projects she is working on. One of her latest posts sent social media ablaze, so much so that her once public Instagram page is now private.
Aubrey posted a photo onto her social media and twitter accounts, debuting a new orange dye job right in time for Halloween season. Her followers paid little attention to her hair and more attention to her face. They showed no mercy, calling her everything from unrecognizable to comparing her to a Halloween clown and creating ghost memes.
“Sooooooo…what’s going on here #AubreyODay?” one fan questioned with side by side photos of Aubrey and a ghost-like figure with protruding eyes.
Another wrote: “Yo. This is tragic. #AubreyODay.
One fan went as far as to question whether or not it was actually Aubrey’s face, asking “So that #AubreyODay pic isn’t a snap filter??????”
Did Aubrey O’Day get plastic surgery?
This isn’t the first time Aubrey has been accused of changing her appearance with the help of a surgeon. Before being forced to branch out on her own, she was scolded by former label head, Diddy, when he accused her of trying to brand herself as a solo artist and not following the set image he had in mind for Danity Kane. Diddy felt that Aubrey pushed a sexier image than he preferred, and considered Aubrey the “problem child” of the group.
Her image became even more sexy and individualized once she was formally kicked out of the group. At one point, she posed for Playboy Magazine. Despite Diddy or anyone else critique, Aubrey stood proud in her sexuality. Fans have long felt that her continued changing appearance wasn’t just a result of her embracing her sexuality but more from surgical enhancements.
There is a noticeable difference in Aubrey’s face and body, which in the past, she’s played coy about. Some fans have attributed her facial changes to the evolving makeup industry, with contouring being a current trend. Others swear she’s gone under the knife. She’s transformed a lot since we were introduced to her on MTV in 2007. The girl next door with the long blond tresses and sweet face has become a sex symbol with plump lips and larger curves.
What has Aubrey O’Day said about plastic surgery?
Aubrey has addressed plastic surgery rumors in the past but has never admitted to having any procedures done. She told CeleBuzz in 2011:
“My makeup — how much or how little I have on — is constantly affecting the way people see me in regards to everybody thinking I’ve had plastic surgery. Sometimes I’ll look at pictures and think that maybe I don’t look like myself there. My eyes [do] look different or my lips look really big … It could’ve been a lip plumper, or a bad makeup artist, or too much makeup or too little makeup.”
Fans don’t buy it. They find it hard to believe that the 35-year-old’s look is attributed to makeup solely. Life & Style Magazine recently published a profile of Aubrey’s changes in the aftermath of her trending on social media, noting that her nose has appeared to thin out, her lips have gotten a bit more plump, and her breasts have grown significantly larger among some of the changes.
Aubrey has been open about her struggles with body image in the past, telling CeleBuzz that coming to terms with her insecurities is an “ongoing process.” Hopefully, she does not allow the opinions of others to dictate her definition of beauty.
