Why Could BravoCon Be Awkward for Kate Chastain from ‘Below Deck’ and Teddi Mellencamp from ‘RHOBH’?

Kate Chastain from Below Deck recently addressed a question about posting spicy tweets about other Bravolebrities.

When the chief stew appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she was asked if any of her tweets got her into trouble with the crew from Below Deck Mediterranean. When it comes to Below Deck Med, Chastain replied, “I only say nice things about Captain Sandy [Yawn]. I think anybody that I’ve tweeted anything negative about kind of deserved it.”

She added, “BravoCon is gonna be very awkward!” Host Andy Cohen wondered if there was anyone she was nervous to bump into. But she said she’s not really worried and that, “I think everybody understands it’s all part of it.”

But this might be a little uncomfortable

Bumping into former friend Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Med would have been awkward, but as of now, it does not seem as though Ferrier will appear at BravoCon. However, one of the Real Housewives she shaded will be attending.

During an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Chastain launched a few shady tweets toward Teddi Mellencamp. As Mellencamp wrestled with whether or not to sell her business, she also agonized over the amount of time she was able to devote to her children.

Chastain reacted to the scene with a tweet. “Im still not really sure what exactly an ‘accountability coach’ does, but I’m pretty certain it doesn’t require more time away one’s children than any other job the millions of working mothers have.”

Mellencamp responded to the tweet, trying to chose her words carefully. “And I’m sure the millions of working moms struggle with mom guilt at some point,” Mellencamp commented. “Never said my job and time was any more important or different. But if judging my feelings as a mother makes you happy go off I guess.”

Friend and cast member Kyle Richards chimed in too. “Not sure if you’re a Mom or not but we all deal with Mom guilt at times when working. Not only does Teddi work her ass off helping people and building her business but also being away from the kids when filming is hard sometimes. There are multiple jobs here.”

But the exchange went further

The tweet wasn’t the only observation Chastain made. She chatted with Kate Casey on her Reality Life podcast about reality personalities and their evolution from season one to season two. She used Mellencamp as an example of how someone changes going into the second season.

“I think that Teddi, after her first season, has completely changed,” Chastain said. “But now she’s become a Stepford Wife. She’s dressing just like them [other cast members]. I just wish she would have stayed more true to who she was.” Chastain remarked how first season Mellencamp was more authentic and real.

During the Twitter exchange, Chastain doubled down on her comments as she mocked Mellencamp’s job as an accountability coach. “I accept accountability for all of my #RHOBH tweets- past, present and future. Also I’m about to eat a pint of pistachio gelato.” The cast from Below Deck and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are scheduled to both appear on Saturday, November 16 at BravoCon.
