Why Demi Burnett Would Rather Have Been the New ‘Bachelorette’ Than Go on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
There were plenty of amazing women on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, but it seems only Cassie Randolph truly stole his heart. While Colton and Cassie seem happier than ever despite the drama that occurred on television (we’ll never forget the infamous fence jump), there was one fan favorite we all can’t wait to see back in the spotlight — and that’s Demi Burnett. The spunky Southern blonde was totally unafraid to be the strong, independent woman she was raised to be. And while she was vilified in the beginning of the season, fans grew to love her and her outspoken nature by the end.
We know Hannah Brown is the next Bachelorette, but many were hoping Demi could take the spotlight. Here’s why the starlet would also rather be on The Bachelorette than attempt to find love on Bachelor in Paradise.
Demi was almost selected as the next Bachelorette
Hannah Brown, the star of Colton’s season who made a name for herself due to her infamous feud with fellow pageant star Caelynn Miller-Keyes, is the next star of the Bachelorette, and Bachelor nation is super excited. While Hannah B. is a favorite, many were hoping Demi would get the spotlight instead, however. From the moment she met Colton, we knew she was one-of-a-kind and would make the perfect star of her own show.
It turns out she almost got picked to be The Bachelorette, too. According to E! News, ABC’s senior vice president Robert Mills said they met with Demi before deciding on who would be The Bachelorette. While Demi might’ve been a bit too edgy to get the final pick, there’s no doubt she has a loyal fan base that would’ve loved to see her find love. It turns out she was most likely the No. 2 pick next to Hannah B. when it came to starring on the show. As Mills said, “I think Demi would be a really interesting season.”
She thinks she’d have a better chance of finding love on The Bachelorette than Bachelor in Paradise
For the ladies who don’t win The Bachelor‘s heart, many are still hopeful they can find love on The Bachelorette — and Demi was no exception. When E! News asked Demi who should be the next star of the show, she pointed at herself and said, “This girl right here!” And she also added that “everyone wants to be The Bachelorette!“
For the ladies and gentlemen who don’t get to star on their own show, many of them still get a chance at love on Bachelor in Paradise. And during the Women Tell All special, Chris Harrison alluded that we may be seeing Demi again in the future, which could mean she’ll be on the show. While this would be an exciting opportunity for the star, she still would rather be The Bachelorette, however.
As she told Glamour, “I think both of them are opportunities that could result in a relationship or more self-discovery, but it is slightly offensive when people are only thinking Paradise, Paradise, Paradise.” She then went on to say that she has a better chance at finding lasting love on The Bachelorette. “I’d have more guys who would be loyal to me, whereas in Paradise a new girl could walk in at any second and they’ll just dump me and I’ll be hurt all over again. So that’s just kind of the struggle there,” she added.
Her fans desperately want to see her back on TV, too
Demi’s raw and bold personality certainly came across while she was attempting to find love with Colton. And as she told Glamour, the producers definitely “‘got’ Demi. It was crazy, there were some things, whenever they air them back, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I totally forgot that I said that. That was such a raw Demi moment,'” she told the publication.
And fans definitely want to see her back on the screen, too. Elite Daily notes her fans have taken to Twitter to show their support. As one Twitter user said, “If Demi isn’t on paradise imma jump a fence.” And another added that while they “hated Demi” in the beginning, they now “love her” and can’t wait to see what else she’s up to in the future. Go Demi!
