Why Did Courteney Cox Finally Get an Instagram Account?

Hold onto those hashtags, everyone! Courteney Cox is finally on Instagram. That’s right, the popular Friends star has broken down and upped her social media game. Rumors are that she made the leap in order to promote her new docuseries Nine Months with Courteney Cox. Whatever the reason, her fans are delighted that they can finally follow her on the popular social media platform.

Ellen DeGeneres pushed her into it

Like real-life friend and fellow Friends alum Jennifer Aniston, Cox has eschewed Instagram until now. An appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show changed that. Some gentle chiding by her host prodded Cox into opening her account within hours.

Later, she launched her new Instagram account with the help of DeGeneres. Imagine her surprise when her host revealed a recreation of the Friends living room, complete with the original couch where so much of the show took place. And then good friend Lisa Kudrow showed up to help, too!

Courteney Cox’s other social media platforms

She’s had a Twitter account since January 2012. It has 1.2 million followers. She also has a Facebook account which she lamented has just 55,000 followers to DeGeneres’ 65 million.

‘Friends’ in real life, too

Cox and Aniston were best friends on the iconic NBC comedy and they’re still besties today. Since the show started in 1994, that’s a committed, long-term friendship. Especially by Hollywood standards!

In fact, they’re such good friends that Cox asked Aniston to be her maid of honor at her upcoming wedding to Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid. That seems only fair since their wedding roles were reversed in 2015 at Jen’s wedding!

Her other roles

One of her first performances was dancing on stage with Bruce Springsteen in the 1984 ‘Dancing in the Dark‘ video directed by Brian De Palma. Since then, she has kept busy with a wide range of TV and movie performances. Some of her eclectic performances include Scream 2 (1997) and Barnyard (2006) where she was the voice of Daisy the cow.

Cox’s latest project

Her latest project is a pregnancy docuseries airing on Facebook Watch. It’s called 9 Months With Courteney Cox and features a diverse range of American families who are all facing pregnancy challenges. It provides viewers with an intimate look at the trials and tribulations that pregnancy can bring.

It’s been described as “a labor of love” for Cox, who is the mother to daughter Coco Arquette, age 14. She said, “I was immediately drawn to this project. As a mother, a woman and a producer, I was determined to bring these incredibly intimate stories to life in an honest and authentic way.”

Her own pregnancy challenges

She may relate to the difficulties facing these potential parents because of her own problems carrying a baby to term. She had several miscarriages before giving birth to Coco. As she reportedly told People magazine, “I get pregnant pretty easily, but I have a hard time keeping them.”

The actress produces and narrates the 20-episode series and also provides commentary. The 15 couples involved each film their own nine month pregnancy journey.

When to watch ‘9 Months With Courteney Cox’

The docuseries, the first project in a partnership between Cox’s Hopper Productions and AMPLE Entertainment, airs each Tuesday and Wednesday. Catch it at 9 PM on the east coast/6 PM on the west coast. The series premiered on Jan. 22nd, so you still have time to get caught up quickly. Unless you prefer to binge watch, of course!

How much are the ‘Friends’ alumni worth?

All of the Friends cast members had acting experience before the show started but there’s no doubt that it was their roles on the show that made them into household names. And they’re each still reeling in money from syndicated reruns of the show. They actually make more money each year from the reruns than the $1 million dollars each they made per episode during the show’s final season in 2004!

Cox has parlayed the $20 million a year from Friends reruns into a net worth of $120 million. Of course, it doesn’t hurt her bottom line that she still keeps busy acting, producing, and occasionally directing.
