Why Did the Queen Wait so Long to Meet Baby Sussex?

Usually, when a baby is born, the grandparents and great grandparents rush to see the child before anyone else. But when it comes to the royal family, that isn’t the case.

Today, while showing their baby to the public for the first time, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed that Queen Elizabeth II had yet to meet baby Sussex.

Since its been two days since the baby was born, some people might think that is a little strange. But is this normal in the way of the royals?

Why hasn’t Queen Elizabeth met baby Sussex?

Before baby Sussex was even born, the Queen had already reportedly decided not to go and meet him right away.

Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former press secretary, told Us Weekly that the monarch would probably “wait a bit before meeting the baby” so that she wouldn’t “create a disruption” at the hospital.

This could also be the reason that she has not met the baby since he has been home from the hospital.

Has Queen Elizabeth done this before?

This long waiting period before meeting a new baby may sound surprising, but it’s nothing new for the Queen. She also waited a few days before meeting Prince William’s children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

When will Queen Elizabeth meet baby Sussex?

In today’s press conference, Markle and Harry said that they were on their way to introduce the baby to the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip will be the first members of the royal family to meet the baby.

“It’ll be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family,” Markle said. “And my mom is with us as well.”

How does the royal family feel about the birth of baby Sussex?

While the rest of the royals haven’t met the baby yet, they are still excited about welcoming him into the world.

“We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return,” Prince Charles said yesterday. He is currently in Germany with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince William had a similar response.

“I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting,” he said yesterday as he and Kate Middleton attended The King’s Cup regatta in London. “[I’m] absolutely thrilled and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quieted down.”

But no one is more excited and proud of Markle than her husband, Harry. Shortly after Markle gave birth, he spoke to cameras about how amazed he was with her.

“I’m so incredibly proud of my wife,” he said. “As every father and parent would ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to die for so I’m just over the moon.”
