Why Do ‘Counting On’ Fans Mom-Shame Joy-Anna Duggar With Every Instagram Post?
As stars of TLC’s hit reality series, Counting On, the Duggars are no strangers to being in the spotlight, but there are some members of the family, like Joy-Anna Duggar, who seem to attract more negative attention than anything else. It seems like every time Duggar shares a photo of her family on social media, she gets mom-shamed by Counting On fans who are not afraid to speak their minds. So why does Duggar always get criticized with every Instagram post?
Fans blast Joy-Anna Duggar over pug photo
Duggar’s recent photo of her son, Gideon, playing with a Pug is yet another example of how she is always a target for mom-shaming.
The photos, which Duggar posted on Instagram, show Gideon innocently sitting beside a pet dog, named Pudge, before going in for a hug.
Although hugging a dog is not the best idea, especially for a kid, it’s also not the worst thing a parent has allowed their child to do. Even still, fans blasted Duggar for not teaching her son about the importance of giving dogs personal space.
“Yeah, yeah…I know. He’s a great dog. But no matter what, you push ANY dog too far, things will happen very quickly and in general….the DOG is the one punished. Allow the child a touch but then remove him from the face of the dog. Just sayin’….” one fan shared.
Duggar, of course, is used to facing this type of criticism, and it won’t be the last time she’s mommy-shamed on social media. While some fans made valid points, it is interesting that Duggar has to deal with this level of backlash with everything she posts.
Why do ‘Counting On’ fans target Joy-Anna Duggar?
Exactly why Duggar and the rest of her siblings are targets for online trolls is unclear. Part of it probably has to do with the fact that they star on a reality show and have put themselves out there for public scrutiny.
The family’s ultra-conservative views do not help and are often at the center of the backlash. There’s also the fact that Duggar and her husband, Austin Forsyth, are young, and fans sometimes feel like they are not equipped to be good parents.
But this does not explain why Joy-Anna Duggar is constantly being attacked, even in posts that have nothing to do with her children. For example, Duggar faced a lot of criticism when she shared a photo of herself holding hands with her husband.
The image was about as innocent as it gets, but fans still shamed them over how they held hands.
When it comes to their children, Duggar and Forsyth have been criticized for not making their children wear helmets on bikes. They even took some backlash in the wake of their miscarriage, with Counting On fans feeling like they were taking advantage of the situation.
We may not know why Duggar gets all the hate, but it is clear that she could use a break from all the drama.
Joy-Anna Duggar opens up about miscarriage
There have been so many Duggar pregnancies this year it has been difficult keeping up. But not all of their pregnancy journey’s have been successful.
This past summer, Duggar and Forsyth shared the devastating news that they had suffered a miscarriage. In the weeks following the tragic event, Joy-Anna shared her thoughts on the loss on social media and kept fans updated on how things are going in her home.
While it was great to see Joy-Anna Duggar move forward after a devastating blow, fans started accusing her of using the tragedy to gain followers on Instagram.
Duggar has not responded to the backlash she received after the miscarriage — and we do not blame her.
Unfortunately, Duggar isn’t the only one on Counting On that experienced heartbreak this year. Lauren Swanson had a miscarriage at the beginning of 2018. Luckily, Swanson recently announced that she is expecting again, which should help her deal with the loss and move forward.
It should be noted that Swanson was also accused of using her miscarriage as a means to boost her popularity.
Joy-Anna Duggar returns for the new season of Counting On October 15 on TLC.
