Why Fans Believe Beyonce and Meghan Markle Are Meeting Up Soon
Beyonce is a Queen on the music scene. Meghan Markle is the Duchess of Sussex and technically a princess. These two women live in very different worlds, one music royalty, and the other British royalty.
Their worlds collided in July at the U.K. premiere for The Lion King. In this article, we’ll take a look at just how things went and what that means for the possible future friendship between two of modern days most powerful ladies!
Beyonce and Meghan Markle meet for the first time
You read that right! The premiere of Disney’s re-imagining of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King was the first time these two influential celebs crossed paths! With Markle still being on maternity leave, royalists weren’t sure if she would be stepping out to check out the highly-anticipated event.
Not one to let being a new mom get her down, the Suits alum made a grand appearance with Prince Harry by her side. Of course, she wasn’t the only woman with a royal title present. Queen Bey, who voices lioness Nala in the film, was also present with her high profile hubby.
Beyonce and Markle’s meeting wasn’t without controversy
When the Duchess of Sussex goes, controversy follows. According to various reports, every guest who was in attendance was briefed on how they should interact with the royal couple. Here were some of the stuffy rules they had to abide by.
No hugging either Markle or Prince Harry, no asking for selfies, and no speaking with them unless they engage you first. Oh, and the icing on the cake — when greeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex refer to them as “Your Royal Highness.”
While all the rules and regulations might seem silly, the code of conduct is one that has been in place for a very long time.
“It seems like it’s so made up, so silly. Like here’s a list of imaginary rules you gotta follow, like tug on your nose twice before you speak to this person. Like, ‘Okay, whatever you guys want!'” – Seth Rogan / E! News
Beyonce, despite the briefing, threw all of the formalities right out the window. The Lemonade songbird addressed Markle as “my princess” before leaning in and giving her a warm hug. A hug that will no doubt go down in entertainment (and British royal) history!
Thankfully, Markle was quite receptive of the gesture, and the two affluent couples shared a few words before going their separate ways.
Is this the start of a lifelong friendship?
The fateful meeting shook social media to the core, so of course, fans want nothing more for them to be friends. But will they? Based on their first meeting, there’s no doubt that Queen Bey and the Duchess of Sussex have already become pretty good acquaintances.
“It’s early days in that relationship! But I think safe to say that they definitely struck up an instant clear rapport, bonding over their kids.” – Unnamed Source
Not to mention, Beyonce has shout out Markle more than once in the past. When the couple accepted their BRIT Award, they took an iconic photo standing in front of a replica of the Mona Lisa. One that was made up to look exactly like Markle.
The gesture showed a great deal of respect on Beyonce’s end. To say the Duchess was pleased with the Instagram post would be an understatement!
Beyonce’s praise didn’t end there. On her official website, she congratulated Markle on her pregnancy, the race-related changes she was making that would go down in history, and the inclusion of her culture at her wedding! How could Beyonce not be swayed by Markle sticking to her roots, something Bey has made a point to do throughout her entire career.
“Meghan brought many Black traditions to her Royal Wedding including a Chicago-based Black pastor, an amazing gospel choir, and a young Black cellist. At the wedding, her culture was front and center, and she and Prince Harry have continued to push the race relations dialogue forward both near and far.”
She also made it a point to highlight Markle’s charity work with foundations that focus on uplifting and empowering black communities. Just another tidbit that the two ladies have in common.
With both women being socially responsible, avid activist, and mothers, it’s no doubt that Beyonce and Markle are going to be the next Hollywood “It” couple.
