Why Floyd Mayweather Fans Are Pissed Off at Justin Bieber
The highly anticipated fight between UFC star Conor McGregor and retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes place on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 and will prove to be a star-studded affair. Many of Hollywood’s elite plan on traveling to Las Vegas for the event, including Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, LeBron James, and Drake.
In the lead-up to the big night, there has been no shortage of celebrities weighing in on who they think will win the match and why. But the most surprising prediction came courtesy of Justin Bieber. The singer rubbed Mayweather’s fans the wrong way with his public statement, and his actions after that really angered the boxer.
Here’s a list of celebrities who have made their predictions, as well as what the Biebs had to say about the upcoming fight.
1. Justin Bieber comments
Justin Bieber was once a member of Mayweather’s Money Team, but it appears that those days are gone. Last week when the pop star was asked for his prediction, everyone expected him to go with Mayweather but he didn’t. Instead of choosing his friend outright, Bieber said, “I don’t think [Floyd will knock McGregor out]. I think it’ll be a good fight.”
This, of course, ticked off some of Mayweather’s fans, who recalled how the boxer stuck by Justin when the singer was going through a pretty rough time. What made the matter even worse though, and really angered Floyd, is that the Biebs unfollowed him on Instagram.
Sources told TMZ that the move set Mayweather off, and he labeled Bieber a “traitor.”
2. Mark Wahlberg sides with Bieber
Bieber isn’t the only one to go with McGregor. Mark Wahlberg is a huge boxing fan, so you might assume that he would pick Floyd to win this match, but the actor actually thinks the UFC fighter has a real chance to beat Mayweather.
“Conor, I think is a very different kind of fighter,” Walhberg said during an interview for Transformers: The Last Knight. “I don’t think [Mayweather] has the power to knock out McGregor so I think Conor McGregor is going to be willing to get in there and take a couple of shots to get one.”
3. Demi Lovato makes her pick
Demi Lovato was clear in her choice of who she would like to see come out of Saturday’s bout victorious.
“Floyd is obviously a boxer and he’s very, very good at it. But Conor’s crazy. And I want Conor to win because it would be so good for MMA,” the “Confident” singer said.
4. Gucci Mane chimes in
Gucci Mane is excited for the big fight and while he recognizes the type of athlete McGregor is, he’s got his boy, “Money,” all the way. The rapper predicted:
I think Floyd gon’ win. I respect that Conor is a great athlete and is definitely not a pushover, but Floyd has showed us over and over that he is a disciplined and well-trained boxer. I respect how he prepares for his fight. I think he just too experienced to lose to anyone making their first time debut boxing but it’s gon’ be a show. I can’t wait to see it.

Idris Elba also joined the conversation about who he thinks will get the “W” on Saturday. During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, the actor explained why he thinks McGregor could defeat Mayweather.
“I think McGregor has a really good chance of winning,” Elba said. “He’s gonna throw some things around that Floyd’s not going to be used to. If Floyd does what he does normally, which is just hold a tight fight, I think McGregor’s going to topple that, strike him. If he gets one on his chin, it could be over.”
6. Mike Tyson makes a prediction
Boxing legend Mike Tyson predicted that Mayweather will easily win the fight and that McGregor has no chance at all. He said, “McGregor is going to get killed in boxing. He put his dumb a** in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby.”
The 29-year-old UFC fighter wasn’t too happy about Tyson’s prediction and fired back via social media. “That’s nice Mike, but you’re looking at the new Don King here, son. Money is mine.”
McGregor then clapped back at all his critics on Twitter, warning, “You are all going to eat your words.”
7. Sylvester Stallone chooses the underdog
Sly Stallone knows a thing or two about boxing and being an underdog, having starred as Rocky Balboa in the iconic Rocky films. So when the 2011 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee weighed in with his pick for the upcoming fight, it only made sense that he chose the underdog.
Stallone told TMZ Sports that he is rooting for Conor because he is the”real life Rocky.” He also added, “I always have the underdog.”
