Why Is BTS Taking An ‘Extended Hiatus’ From Performing?
For the past six years, BTS has been dancing and singing their way straight to the top.
The K-pop group has been working tirelessly to get to where they are today as one of the top boy bands in the world.
Now that have reached ultimate fame with their chart-topping hits, why has BTS decided to take an ‘extended hiatus’ from the industry?
The group really needs a break
It is an extremely sad time for fans of BTS because it has just been revealed that the band plans on taking a hiatus from performing.
While this news comes as a complete shock to most, the band’s management company recently explained why this hiatus needs to happen.
Following their sold-out concert in Seoul on August 11, Big Hit Entertainment announced in a statement on Twitter that members RM, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V would be taking “an official and extended period of rest and relaxation” and would not be performing.
“This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentlessly driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators,” the statement read.
“This will also provide them with a chance to enjoy ordinary lives of young people in their 20’s, albeit briefly,” the company added.
With BTS having worked non-stop since they first debuted as a group in 2013, this break is something they all needed at this point in their careers.
“During this time, the members will rest and recharge in their own personal ways,” the statement said. “Should you have a chance encounter with a member of BTS while they are on vacation, we ask that you show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off.”
Is BTS planning to return after their hiatus?
Though we can understand fully why BTS is going on an extended hiatus, many of us really want to know when the band plans on making their comeback to the music industry?
According to Big Hit Entertainment, the boy band has plans to return but didn’t specify when that will happen.
The statement concluded with, “BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them.”
While this is still a tough pill for many of us to swallow, many fans are standing by the band’s decision to take a break from the industry.
Fans believe that BTS was in a need of a break from performing and wants the band to enjoy their vacation. They’ve even started the hashtag #HappyVacationBTS to further show their support for the boy band.
“Seeing #RestWellBTS and #HappyVacationBTS trending ww makes me the most happiest!” one wrote. “Babies always have worked the hardest for us to get the best of everything they do, so they truly deserve to have a long vacation and all the rest in the world they need.”
Though they are taking a break from performing as a band, there are certain members who will most likely continue making music for the time being.
On August 9, band member, V, released a new solo single, titled “Winter Bear,” and just last month, RM released “Seoul Town Road,” a remix of Lil Nas X’s chart-topping hit “Old Town Road.”
