Why Is Lil Nas X Quitting Music?
Have you heard? Lil Nas X has decided to take some time off from music and live outside of the spotlight for a while.
The “Old Town Road” crooner made the announcement via social media on Sept. 27, which was obviously a bit of a bummer for fans. And now, they want answers. So, what’s going on? Why is Lil Nas X temporarily quitting music?
A closer look at Lil Nas X’s tweet
The “Panini” rapper broke the news in a tweet shared in the afternoon of Sept. 27, adding that he also planned to cancel two upcoming performances.
“It’s been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off,” he tweeted. “Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you some way.”
What prompted the announcement?
He did not elaborate on his decision, but his comments about how crazy the past few months have been
The sudden rise from obscurity to stardom has seemingly affected Lil Nas X. He previously opened up about his transformation from a “struggling artist” to an international star in an emotional Instagram post shared back in July.
“Last year in October, as a struggling artist starting to lose faith in what I could be, I went looking for beats on YouTube,” he wrote. “I remember clicking on so many generic sounding beats trying to find the right one for me. When I suddenly came across a country-trap sounding masterpiece, I immediately knew I would make something special out of it.
“Did I know it would become the longest running number 1️⃣ song of all time? NO! but I am so thankful that this blessing has been placed upon me,” Lil Nas X continued. “This song has changed my life and the way I see the world around me in less than a year.”
Lil Nas X is also seeing someone
Perhaps there’s a chance he’s stepping away from music so he can spend some time with his new love interest.
In case you missed it, he recently admitted in an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he’s kind of in a relationship. When asked whether he was dating anyone, Lil Nas X replied, “Somewhat, somewhat.”
He didn’t say any names. But the announcement came months after the singer came out as gay. Lil Nas X made the announcement on June 30, the last day of Pride Month, urging fans to listen to his song, “Closer,” which contains hints about his sexuality.
With any luck, he’ll share more details about this break soon. If so, we’ll be sure to let you know.
