Why Joanna Gaines Looks Forward to Christmas Months in Advance
If you’re looking forward to Christmas, you’ve got plenty of company. Young and old alike count Christmas among their favorite holidays. One person who can’t wait for Christmas to get here is Joanna Gaines. Joanna told her readers in the winter issue of The Magnolia Journal that she spends the whole year anticipating Christmas. Here’s why Joanna Gaines looks forward to Christmas months in advance.
First in line
You might wait until the last minute to buy your Christmas tree, but that’s certainly not the case for Joanna. In her column for The Magnolia Journal, Joanna tells readers she and her family are so ready for Christmas they’re first in line each year to purchase a tree from the local Christmas tree farm. While most are still basking in the glow of fall, the Gaines family is gearing up for Christmas. “While others have yet to clear away their pumpkins, our household has entered a full-blown holiday mindset,” says Joanna in her column. “In early November, you have your pick of trees, and we tend to opt for the most ridiculously large and fragrant one we can find,” she continues.
The Gaines family decorate their Christmas tree early
It’s common to wait until December to put up a tree and start decorating for Christmas, but Joanna doesn’t wait that long. As soon as she picks out a tree in November, the decorating begins. “As soon as the towering pine is firmly lodged in its stand, taking up most of the living room, Chip and I are bounding up the stairs to the attic to haul out the Christmas decorations. Without hesitation, we all dig in, sifting through layers of lights and ornaments,” says Joanna.
Why Joanna Gaines looks forward to Christmas months in advance
Joanna says she looks forward to Christmas because this is the time of year when family traditions are built. During Christmas, Joanna says she builds memories she cherishes for years. Says Joanna, “I replay these moments in my mind not because I long for peppermint bark or cold weather (though I really do love both), but because these moments somehow define who we are as a family.”
Joanna spends the whole year thinking about Christmas
The mom of five admits she spends the entire year anticipating Christmas. It has become such a special holiday, that it’s the one she and her family focus on the most. “We look forward to it all year. We count down the days, just to experience it nearly exactly as we always have. It is so comfortably familiar and perfectly nostalgic that, frankly, we have no desire to improve upon it at all,” says Joanna.
Thanksgiving isn’t forgotten
Although Joanna loves Christmas, she hasn’t forgotten about Thanksgiving. She spends a significant amount of time decorating her home for this holiday as well. She recently shared with her readers how she decorates her Thanksgiving table.
