Kardashian met Scott Disick in 2006. The couple had instantly hit it off. A couple of years after they were together, they had a brief falling-out and decided to split for a while. The breakup didn’t last that long, however, and in 2009, Disk and Kardashian welcomed their first child, Mason, into the world.

After the birth of their son, their relationship continued to see its fair share of ups and downs. They went on to have two more kids over the next few years.

But during that time, Disick had struggled with alcoholism. There were rumors of infidelity and the couple had an on-again, off-again relationship until finally calling it quits in 2016. They had tried desperately hard for 12 years to make their relationship work, but in the end, they realized that they worked better as friends than they did an actual couple.

Today, they still sometimes get into little spats here and there, but for the most part, they work like a well-oiled co-parenting machine.

Kourtney Kardashian’s parents split up when she was young

Kardashian’s mom Kris Jenner married her dad, Robert Kardashian, in 1978. If Jenner’s husband sounds familiar, it’s because he got his notoriety for being one of O.J. Simpson’s lawyers while he was on trial for the murder of his wife.

Jenner and Kardashian had four children together: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Robert Jr. The coupled divorce in 1991 when all of their children were still just kids. Even though Jenner and Kardashian were unable to make their relationship work, they still remained close friends.

In fact, many fans believe that the reason why Kourtney Kardashian is so good at co-parenting with Disick is that she learned how to create a strong and healthy co-parenting relationship from watching her parents successfully co-parent for many years.

Sadly, Robert Kardashian dies in 2003 from esophageal cancer. Kourtney Kardashian was just barely an adult when she tragically lost her father.

In 2012, Jenner admitted that she had an affair with soccer player Todd Waterman while she was still married to Robert. That same year, all four of the Kardashian siblings went on the Oprah show to talk about how the affair and divorce had impacted them. Kourtney Kardashian had said that because of her mother’s affair, she feels that she has commitment issues in her own relationships and blamed Jenner’s infidelity on the reason why she could never marry Disick.

Why are some fans worried about Kourtney Kardashian and her relationships?

In a recent discussion on Reddit, many fans had voiced their concern for Kourtney Kardashian. They said that they feel like her past may be preventing her from having a strong and healthy romantic relationship today.  Some fans think that she is “damaged” but she is just good at hiding it.

“I feel like she has issues that still affect her to this day,” one commenter wrote. “I always felt like she lowkey still resents Kris for cheating on their dad.”

Another commenter added: “I think she has a lot of pain and resentment and I don’t think she hides it well, nor should she need to.”

It’s hard to say for sure if Kardashian does still harbor resentment for her mother. However, she has admitted to having a commitment phobia because of her mother’s past behavior, so there is a good chance that she is still letting the rocky relationship that her mom and her dad had impacted her relationships today.
