Why Fans Still Support Kim Kardashian Despite Working with Donald Trump
Kim Kardashian is becoming more than a reality show personality, she’s starting to be known as an advocate for prison reform. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has been successful in drawing attention to this pressing issue. Helping the entrepreneur is the U.S. leader, Donald Trump, which has been highly controversial.
Trump has been a divisive political figure ever since he announced his candidacy for the presidency of the United States. He has called out groups of people that demean them and create tensions amongst the human race.
Kardashian is a savvy woman though, she knows Trump has an appetite to be associated with celebrities. Not many Hollywood stars have openly supported the White House resident due to his polemic policies, and that’s where the most famous Kardashian comes in.
Kim Kardashian works with Trump
Kardashian was moved by the story of Alice Johnson, a woman that was incarcerated since 1996 on accounts of cocaine distribution and money laundering. Johnson had been serving a life sentence for a nonviolent offense and her only way out was to be granted clemency by the president.
Johnson had petitioned for clemency under the Obama administration but she was denied. When Kardashian heard about her story she was able to get in contact with Trump and advocated for Johnson successfully.
“While this administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance,” the White House said in a statement after Johnson was granted clemency.
Kim Kardashian and her advocacy
Ever since the positive outcome, Kardashian has fought for these causes despite the backlash for getting close to Trump. For the reality star, working with the president is more than what the political beliefs they may have. She wants to use her celebrity to make positive changes in people’s lives.
Kardashian shared a clip of a new episode of KUWTK on Instagram. In the promo, she attends the Second Chance hiring conference that was held at the White House in June 2019.
The star is seen rehearsing her speech about people that have a hard time getting another opportunity in life after serving their term in prison.
