Why Lo Bosworth Wants Nothing to Do With ‘The Hills’ Reboot

We remember back when a few of MTV’s biggest shows were Laguna Beach followed by The Hills — and it seems the reality series is slated for a comeback. Originally, the series followed the professional and personal lives of a number of young women establishing a life in Los Angeles. Though it ended back in 2010, fans of the show will get some major life updates thanks to The Hills: New Beginningswhich will air in 2019.

There are a few stars from the original who won’t be joining the others for the reboot, however — and one of them is Lo Bosworth. Here’s why she wants absolutely nothing to do with The Hills now that she’s a little older and wiser.

Lo allegedly said she doesn’t want ‘any association’ with the show or cast

We remember Lo best for her tight relationship with Lauren Conrad, a fan favorite we’ve watched closely through the years since Laguna Beach. Toward the end of the original Hills series, Lo went from being a supporting cast member to a main one — and we got an in-depth look into her relationships with the others stars like Audrina Patride, Heidi Montag, Whitney Port, Kristin Cavallari, and Stephanie Pratt.

Unfortunately, it looks like fans may never see Lo on another TV series. On her podcast, Lady Lovin’, she said of the show, “I don’t want any association with any of those people, MTV reports. The disassociation from all those people is what I’m hungry for.” Lo then went on to add that right now, she’s in a totally different place in her life and would not want to revisit The Hills for that reason, too. “I think that there were some people on the show that have gone on to great success and we’re friends and I’m happy for them. There are others that I probably never would have in my life unless we worked together at one point. … They were all just my f–king coworkers. It was a job. A j-o-b,” she added.

Does she still speak with Lauren Conrad, her former best friend from the show?

Lo may not want to see many of the old cast members from The Hills, but fans are still wondering if she and Lauren Conrad have remained friends over the years. PopSugar reminds us back in 2004, the two were ultra close all the way back when Laguna Beach was airing, and they stayed tight through The Hills as well. After the series ended in 2010, it’s clear they remained friends for years, as Lo was one of the Lauren’s bridesmaids in her 2014 wedding to musician William Tell.

By 2016, however, it seems their dynamic started to shift. The publication notes they were each noticeably absent on each other’s Instagrams, and Lo also wasn’t around to celebrate Lauren’s 30th birthday. They saw each other at a mutual friend’s wedding in 2017, but even so, fans of their friendship were concerned something went awry.

Who will we see on The Hills reboot?

We may never know if Lauren and Lo are still friends, as neither of them are going to be a part of the show’s reboot. Cosmopolitan explains Lauren is heavily into the fashion world and too involved with her line for Kohl’s to step away. And it seems Kristin Cavallari also won’t be there, as she can’t break contract with her current E! show, Very Cavallari.

As for who fans will see, Stephanie Pratt, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Frankie Delgado, Justin Bobby, Jason Wahler, Brody Jenner, and Whitney Port are all signed on. Not only that, but the show will also feature their children. It seems another generation of The Hills may already be in the works.
