Though she uses a makeup artist on very special occasions, like her wedding –Meghan Markle typically does her own makeup.

Why does Meghan Markle insist on doing her own makeup?

Markle is used to being in front of the cameras, and she’s also used to having total control over how she looks. In the past–tabloids have said that the Duchess of Sussex likes to do her own makeup because she didn’t want to seem fussy. Kate Middleton also does her own makeup.

However, a source told US Weekly that the duchess’ desire to do her own makeup has nothing to do with Middleton. The insider revealed, “She just likes doing her own makeup. [It has] nothing to do with Kate. Meghan has her makeup done for some special occasions but likes to do it herself.”

Meghan Markle hates when her photographs are altered

Markle hates it when her makeup erases the freckles off of her cafe-au-lait skin or she is altered in any way. Therefore, she just prefers to do things her own way –and she is not a fan of photoshop. The former actress once told Allure, “To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed, and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot.” To date, she’s obsessed with her 2017 Vanity Fair cover because it shows her just how she is.

What is Meghan Markle’s beauty routine?

Since Meghan Markle mostly deals with her skincare and makeup routine on her own, she has a few staples in her arsenal. The duchess‘ facialist Nichola Joss told Refinery 29 that she swears by Coconut oil. Markle also told Allure that she adores, £4 Australia tea tree oil. The duchess explained, “It’s not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is, it’s my little cure-all. It’s inexpensive, it’s small enough to carry on, and I bring it with me all the time.”

Markle loves to keep her routine light and fresh. The duchess’ makeup artist Daniel Martin told E! Online that she’s obsessed with Eucerin’s Aquaphor. He explained, “Before highlighters, you would do highlighting with Aquaphor, it will give you that same texture, especially in a photo [when applied] on the high points of the face.”

The duchess is also a fan of £30 Becca Cosmetics’ Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter for dewy glowing skin.
