Well before she entered the British Royal Family, Duchess Meghan Markle has been the picture of perfection. The stunning beauty has had no trouble working the cameras or the red carpet. These skills have certainly come into play in her role as the Duchess of Sussex since every move she makes is constantly being recorded.
Though she used to everything she does been scrutinized from her demeanor to her appearance, including her hair and makeup —Markle has insisted on having some semblance of control over her life. Though she uses a makeup artist on very special occasions, like her wedding –Meghan Markle typically does her own makeup.
Why does Meghan Markle insist on doing her own makeup?
Markle is used to being in front of the cameras, and she’s also used to having total control over how she looks. In the past–tabloids have said that the Duchess of Sussex likes to do her own makeup because she didn’t want to seem fussy. Kate Middleton also does her own makeup.
However, a source told US Weekly that the duchess’ desire to do her own makeup has nothing to do with Middleton. The insider revealed, “She just likes doing her own makeup. [It has] nothing to do with Kate. Meghan has her makeup done for some special occasions but likes to do it herself.”
Meghan Markle hates when her photographs are altered
Markle hates it when her makeup erases the freckles off of her cafe-au-lait skin or she is altered in any way. Therefore, she just prefers to do things her own way –and she is not a fan of photoshop. The former actress once told Allure, “To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed, and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot.” To date, she’s obsessed with her 2017 Vanity Fair cover because it shows her just how she is.

Since Meghan Markle mostly deals with her skincare and makeup routine on her own, she has a few staples in her arsenal. The
Markle loves to keep her routine light and fresh. The duchess’ makeup artist Daniel Martin told E! Online that she’s obsessed with Eucerin’s Aquaphor. He explained, “Before highlighters, you would do highlighting with Aquaphor, it will give you that same texture, especially in a photo [when applied] on the high points of the face.”
