Why Meghan Markle Thanked Jameela Jamil for Introducing Her To Prince Harry
One of the best events of the last few years was watching Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their journey to engagement, and finally, marriage.
Things only got more exciting when the couple announced, soon after tying the knot, that they were expecting their first child. Suddenly, we were all on royal “baby watch” as we anticipated the birth of the newest family member, speculating as to whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would welcome a boy or a girl, what the name would be, and whether he or she would have a royal title.
Most fans would have to agree that it has been pretty exciting, and we couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry.
As we all know, the couple was introduced when they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. Harry admitted during the couple’s engagement interview that he was “beautifully surprised” when he first laid eyes on Meghan, and it seemed that the couple was meant to be.
For a while, we didn’t know which mutual friend was responsible for introducing one of our favorite couples. Why is Meghan Markle thanking Jameela Jamil for introducing her to Prince Harry?
A relationship that was written in the stars
Over the years, we have seen Prince Harry involved in a few serious relationships, and Meghan was actually married to producer Trevor Engelson for a few years before the couple drifted apart and divorced. It’s not too often that you hear anyone admitting that it was “love at first sight,” however, that seems to be just the case with Meghan and Harry.
According to People, the prince knew that he would one day marry Meghan the first time that he met her. The couple seems to complement each other perfectly, and we can’t imagine a time when they weren’t together.
The first date
When Meghan and Harry’s mutual friend told Meghan that she wanted to set the two of them up, Grazia reports that Meghan asked if Harry was “nice.” We can only assume that their friend, Violet von Westenholz, told Meghan that he definitely was — because they agreed to meet up in London for a drink, and the relationship took off.
Apparently, Harry was having a difficult time finding a woman with whom he could connect with, and Meghan herself was single as well. Violet felt that they would be perfect for each other, and, as it turns out, her instincts were spot on. Immediately after the first date, Meghan and Harry agreed to meet up again, and soon they were carrying on a long-distance relationship.
It wasn’t long before Meghan, who was living in Toronto, Canada where her television show Suits was filmed, relocated across the pond to England to live with Harry at Kensington Palace.

So, why is it that Meghan is thanking Jameela Jamil for introducing her to Prince Harry? According to Harper’s Bazaar, it is all in good fun. Jamil stars in the comedy The Good Place, which Meghan has apparently seen. Jameela’s character, Tahani Al-Jamil, makes a joke on the show, saying that she was the one who actually introduced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and was responsible for their relationship.
As luck would have it, Meghan then chose Jameela to be a star for the cover of British Vogue, which the duchess guest-edited. Much to Jameela’s delight, she received a warm welcome from Meghan, who told her that she was a fan of the show and jokingly thanked her for introducing her to her husband.
Looks like the two of them got along just wonderfully, and that Meghan was appreciative of Jameela’s sense of humor.
