Why Meghan Markle Won’t Be Taking Pictures on the Steps of the Hospital like Kate Middleton

The royal baby is coming! We are getting so close to the birth of baby Sussex that people are sitting on the edge of their seats for details surrounding Meghan Markle’s birthplan.

Well, luckily Buckingham Palace just threw us a bone and released some info on what’s going to happen on that special day.

Markle won’t be taking pictures on the hospital steps

Previously, royals have liked to come outside and do a photo op, showcasing their babies directly after the birth. Kate Middleton did this with all three of her children. But apparently, Markle is not going for it.

“Buckingham Palace have announced media plans for the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s baby,” royal correspondent Emily Andrews tweeted this morning. “Once #Meghan is in labour, we will be told (like #kate) but the couple will keep where private & won’t be appearing “on the hospital steps” afterwards. There will be a photo op once they’re home.”

Reportedly, Prince Harry and Markle want the baby’s first days to be spent in private.

“The couple want to enjoy the first few days with #babysussex before a photo op at Windsor Castle grounds,” Andrews continued. “It’s still unknown where they’ll have the baby, but it’s not the Lindo Wing. Maybe at home or a local hospital. Media will be told once #meghan is in labour & baby born.”

Buckingham Palace’s statement

Early this morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been extremely tight-lipped throughout the pregnancy, released a statement regarding the birth.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” the statement reads.

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Where will Markle have her baby?

Since the couple is most likely choosing not to have their child in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, there are a few other options that they could go with.

The Palace has not confirmed whether or not the couple will chose to do a home birth at their new residence, Frogmore Cottage.

If they choose not to have a home delivery, they could opt for one of the hospitals near their home, such as Princess Margaret Hospital, King Edward VII Hospital, or Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

How is Markle preparing to give birth?

Markle has been trying to relax to prepare to give birth to her first child. She’s even enlisted the help of celebrity acupuncturist Ross Barr to help her stay calm.

“Meghan has been having regular acupuncture sessions to help her unwind and relax,” a source close to Barr told Vanity Fair. “It’s brilliant for the blood circulation and boosting blood flow to the uterus. She plans to use acupuncture right up to her due date.”
