It’s not surprising for wealthy and privileged people to travel via jet. What makes this case unique is that Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have often expressed concern for the environment. This is why many fans and the media labeled them as “hypocrites” since a private jet emits seven times the emission per person than a commercial flight.

Chances are, Markle and Prince Harry are excited about spending significant time in Africa since it is a place that is near to both of their hearts. According to the BBC, the couple can’t wait to bring their son to South Africa, as it is a place where Prince Harry has visited time and again. He spent time there immediately following the death of his mother, Princess Diana, and has said that it is a place where he feels most comfortable.

Botswana is also the place that the two of them went shortly after their first date, where they got to spend some time away from the spotlight and focus on each other. The country is so special to them, in fact, that when Prince Harry designed Markle’s engagement ring, he used a center stone sourced from Botswana.

As things stand now, they could certainly use some time to themselves, away from the royal spotlight, and out of the public eye. In Africa, they most likely won’t face the harsh criticism that they have been under lately, and the time away will be beneficial.
Another important reason may be so that Prince William and Kate Middleton can have a chance to be in the limelight just a little more, something that is important for them as the future king and queen consort. Lately, Markle and Prince Harry have been all the rage, and this will be a great way to get some focus back on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
