Why Ray J Is Petitioning the Trump Administration for Help
Ray J is making major moves on both a personal and professional level. The singer turned reality star is projected to make $200 million in 2020 from his bike-sharing company, ScootEbike. He’s also expanding his family and recently announced that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy next year, making him a two-time father. His business moves may now include politics as he’s rumored to be in talks with the Trump Administration.
His brand is getting larger with unprecedented partnerships. One of which is his deal with Suge Knight where he will be managing Knight’s business affairs. Ray J is also learning the political realm as it’s been reported that he’s petitioning the Trump Administration to try and help Knight while he’s imprisoned.
Suge Knight signs over life rights to Ray J
TMZ reported in October 2019 that the Death Row Records CEO sold his life rights Ray J. The decision appeared random to many fans but it was revealed that the two shared a close personal and professional relationship for years.
Both admitted to participating in gang activity in California and are said to have come in contact through their gang and musical affiliations. Ray J has said that Knight was a mentor to him as he grew up in the industry.
Sources close to Knight told TMZ that he expects Ray J to make the right decisions with his story and make money for him and his family while he’s incarcerated.
There are several projects that are alleged to be in the works, some of which have been on the table since before Knight was arrested. Knight has been contemplating film and television deals, book deals, a documentary about Death Row Records and another project focusing on Tupac Shakur. Knight is also in talks to relaunch Death Row Records.
It’s unclear what Ray J’s involvement will be on the creative side of Knight’s projects but it’s obvious that facilitating the business deals is a priority.
Ray J asking the Trump Administration to help get Suge Knight an official pardon
Knight has served several jail stints and has been in and out of trouble with the law but the last straw came after an incident in 2015.
Video evidence showed Knight pulling into the entrance of a Compton restaurant near the filming site of the movie, Straight Outta Compton. Knight is said to have been going near the set to confront members of the film over their portrayal of the star. An argument between Knight and two men, Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan, ensued and at the scene and Knight allegedly feared his life, causing him to hit Carter with his car and then proceeded to run him over and flee the scene. Carter later died from injuries sustained in the hit-and-run.
Knight was arrested and ultimately sentenced to 28 years in prison for the murder of Carter. With Knight in prison, his business dealings were left unattended, which is why he signed over all rights to Ray J to handle in his absence.
According to The Jasmine Brand, Ray J has allegedly been in talks with the Trump Administration to discuss getting Knight a pardon. Ray J has had multiple conversations with the White House regarding Knight but the alleged trade-off requested by the administration for a meeting with the president is for Ray J to join President Trump on the road at one of his upcoming political rallies. It’s unknown whether or not Ray J has agreed to publicly support the administration.
If Ray J’s ex, Kim Kardashian, can get the Trump administration to agree to pardons then Ray J has a chance!
